I can’t stop myself from saying. “I knew Niko wasn’t a traitor.”

“Someone remind me whose side thisprincesais on,” the man next to Mateo says, hitching a thumb in my direction.

“Dude, if you don’t know by now you haven’t been paying attention.” Dimitri clasps him on the shoulder with a laugh.

“Thank you, Mila.” Mateo’s warm eyes and soft nod are enough for now, but tonight, I expect to be properly thanked. I swear by the way the corner of his mouth quirks up ever so slightly, you would think he was reading my thoughts.

“You’re welcome.” I offer a small curtsey. I mean, the one guy did call me a princess after all, before quickly exiting the room.

I probably shouldn’t feel so accomplished for figuring out my father’s plan and exposing him to his enemy, but there’s something so rewarding about being able to help.

And while yes, Esteban Herrera is my father and a part of me feels like a complete traitor, he’s also nothing more than a stranger to me. While Mateo... Well, let’s just say he means a whole hell of a lot more.
