Page 26 of A Monstrous Claim

Azarius is bonded to a human—or mostly human—girl, and we can’t send her back to Earth just in case she decides to reveal our existence to the world.

The whole situation is fucked.

Royally so.

With a huff, I keep walking farther away from the mansion as I let my mind spin out of control. Everything is currently taking a toll on me. Devyn. Azarius. Rafe. My boner.

There’s also the mystery of how Devyn is even in our realm right now to be able to screw Az and troll my thoughts. She has some kind of monster blood in her that let her live through the portal and survive the frex fruit without any horrible side effects.

But I have no idea what kind of monster blood she has. And that bothers me.

Typically, we can sense other monsters, but in her case, the amount of monster blood running through her veins must be small. Minuscule. I didn’t have an inkling about her the entire time we rode in her car or even after she arrived in the monster realm. If the Malev had sensed the monster in her, he might have spared her.

Maybe.

Then again, Malevs are really dumb fuckers, so he might have lost control when he smelled the human blood. Since Malevs can’t create portals themselves and humans can’t come here, their experience with them is very limited. And coveted. They’re always trying to figure out ways to cross the threshold into the human world.

Their lust for human blood is so strong that they can smell it through the portals, which is why we don’t portal anywhere near the mansion. We don’t want to risk drawing any uninvited visitors into the woods.

We have to be as careful as possible until Rafe secures control of the east end of the realm.

A few more contracts with powerful monsters should do it. Then we’ll be able to mobilize and force the Malevs back into the mountains. We’ve been working hard on some of these alliances for years, and we’re finally seeing headway.

I can’t wait.

To be able to move freely without worrying about being attacked.

To be able to portal whenever and wherever we want.

To be able to exist without constantly covering our tracks or checking over our shoulders.

It feels like some sort of dream, even though it was that way once upon a time.

Many years ago, back when I was just getting my bearings about me and figuring out where I belonged in the monster realm, we didn’t have to worry about Malevs. They mainly stayed hidden and out of sight, like wild animals in the human world. They minded their business, and the regular monsters like me—the ones without demon blood—minded theirs.

What happened to draw the Malevs out of the mountains and make them start hunting down and killing us, I don’t know. But the only way to fix the solution is to take a stand and fight.

Which is what we’re working on.

I pause by a particularly fat tree trunk and lean against it, still letting my thoughts flow freely like an undammed river. My mind is racing, and my cock is still aching for some kind of release.

The walk hasn’t helped, nor have the distractions.

I groan, knowing there’s only one thing that will alleviate my discomfort and get my head right.

I just wish Devyn was here to handle it for me.

Reluctantly, I rest my head back against the tree trunk and close my eyes, the thought of her standing before me overtaking my senses. I see her poised there, her clothes abandoned on the ground behind her, her delicious curves on full display. She’s beautiful, and judging by the coy look in her eyes, she knows it.

Even though I’ve never seen her look at me this way, I know she’s capable of it. The half-cocked smile. The curious tilt to one brow. I guarantee before everything is said and done, I’ll have her look at me that way in real life.

I run my tongue slowly over my lips as my eyes fall down her body. They pause on her perky breasts, which I unintentionally memorized as I watched her earlier in the dining hall, and I wish she was here so I could reach out and caress them. No such luck. It’s just me, my painfully throbbing cock, and my hand for this round.

My eyes pop open, and I glance around cautiously, making sure I’m alone, even though I already know it to be true. No one ever ventures into these woods. No animals live here because the trees can’t sustain life.

It’s just me and my phantom image of Devyn.

Reassured, I close my eyes again and slip my hand down the front of my pants as I focus on Devyn’s image. She steps toward me, hips swaying gracefully as she moves, and my eyes travel lower—down the smooth skin of her stomach, past her hip bones, to the hairlessVbetween her thighs. My mouth waters.
