“Who’s that?”

“My name. That’s my name,” she says.

She just told me her name. I close my eyes and say it over and over in my head. It’s beautiful, just like her. I kiss her neck then, pulling her in tighter against me. Then, I whisper my name into her ear.

“Take me upstairs?” she asks.

I nod. We walk hand in hand back inside and toward the elevators. When one arrives, we climb in with another couple. She places her room key over the reader above the buttons and presses floor seventeen.

“It’s not the penthouse. Don’t be disappointed,” she whispers to me.

“I’m not,” I reply, pulling her back against me again. “That would be impossible tonight anyway.”

“Newlyweds?” the woman standing with her likely husband on the other side of the elevator asks.

“Sorry?” I say.

“Are you newlyweds?” she asks.

“Oh, we–” I start.

“Sure,” she says. “We’re here on our honeymoon.”

“That’s nice, dear,” she says. “Thirty years for us.” She points to the man next to her.

“Something for us to aspire to,” she says.

The couple gets off on the ninth floor, and I turn to her.

“We’re married now?” I joke.

“Why not? We’ll never see them again anyway,” she replies, smiling at me.

“Well, if this is our honeymoon, I plan to spend the entire thing in the bedroom,” I tease, leaning in and nibbling on her lower lip.

The elevator dings, and the doors open.

“Let’s go,” she says.

She pulls me by the hand out of the elevator down the hallway. Room 1743 is ours. She uses the key and pushes the door open. We’re inside in an instant, and the door slams closed on its own behind us. I look around.

“Oh, wow,” I say.

It’s true that it’s not the penthouse, but it’s still a very nice room. There’s a small living area with a minibar and sofa with a coffee table in front of it that looks more expensive than all of my furniture combined. The bed is a king, and it has some of the most comfortable-looking bedding on it I’ve ever seen.

“Is this okay?” she asks.

“Are you kidding? Can I move in?” I joke, walking in past her to look around more. “Holy shit! The view,” I say, pointing out the sliding glass doors at the lake and sunset we can now see from much higher now.

Then, I feel her behind me. I close my eyes as I feel her body press against me. Her hands go to my chest from under my arms and rest above my breasts. Her chin goes to my shoulder.

“Do you want to watch it from the balcony?” she asks.

“This is good,” I reply, not wanting to move from this spot right now.

“There’s wine and beer or sparkling–”

“Babe, this is what I want.” I place my hands on top of hers. “Just this.”
