Brandon raised an eyebrow at me. “Speak your mind, Tati.”

“We don’t know this motherfucker like that,” I said, not caring about the eyes on me as I gestured in his direction.

“This afternoon didn’t make it clear I was reliable?” Onyx asked, and Brandon looked to me.

“What happened this afternoon?”

Ugh.

“Ran into Jake Lincoln, it was nothing,” I assured, knowing Brandon didn’t need even anothermilligramof a reason to go after theMarauders. “Onyx decided to fuck up his muscle, like a damn hooligan, unprompted.”

“That’s exactly why I should come to the meeting,” Onyx suggested. “So you can keep an eye on me.”

I huffed, shaking my head. I understood the potential value Onyx could bring, with his – supposed – special skillset. But he hadn’t proven shit other than his ability to throw a punch yet.

He shot a taunting smirk in my direction, knowing his invitation into our committee meeting was irksome.

Brandon’s mouth twitched, and he shrugged. “I agree. What better place for him to be?”

“Of course you do,” I huffed, then started inside, to go to the damn meeting, pissed. Twenty minutes later, I left the damn meeting pissed too, only to run straight into Kev, lingering at the hall entrance for my attention.

Or maybe Brandon’s.

I mostly ignored him, heading straight for my bike. It was no surprise when he followed though.

“What was that earlier?” he asked, starting as soon as we’d made it outside theBottomsdoors.

I groaned. “What waswhat?”

“You asking that nigga what his name meant and all that?” he said, moving to get in front of me, impeding my path. “You flirting right in my face now?”

I pinned Kev with a look that held back none of the disgust I was feeling in the moment. “I’mnot havingthis conversation. I’m not in the mood so you can fuck off,” I snapped, moving to get around him.

“Hold on, damn,” he countered, catching me with an arm around my waist. His dick against my stomach was the only reason I didn’t shove him off. “I’m not trying to be on any bullshit with you, Tati. But if you had somebody trying to play a little too close to your position with Blue, you telling me you wouldn’t be trying to see what was up?”

Shit.

That… hit a little too close.

I sighed, forcing my gaze to his face. “I get it. But me and you arenotthe same thing as me and Brandon. I made it very clear whatthiswas going to be, from the start.”

“I hear you, okay?” he crooned, dipping his head to put his mouth to my neck. A moan escaped my throat when he pushed my braids aside for better access, doing a little thing with his tongue behind my ear that I felt right between my legs. “Let me make it up to you?”

Before this… before the meeting with BrandonandOnyx, I’d already decided I was going home alone tonight. And I probably still should.

But then Onyx stepped outside, immediately finding my eyes across the busy parking lot, and smirked.

I feltthatbetween my legs too.

Shit.

“Fine,” I told Kev, breaking my gaze with Onyx. “Meet me at my place.”

I pushed off him, frustrated at how hot and bothered I suddenly was.

Evenmorethan I’d been about just Kev.

I didn’t look back for anybody as I made my way to my bike, donned my helmet, and took off, eager to leave all the annoyances from the last few hours behind.
