I scoffed. “He can’t be serious? Hamilton, as in Nessa Hamilton, Blue’s girlfriend? Is he trying to be funny?”

“Nah,” Isaiah said. “It’s a shitty countermeasure. And it’s exactly what caught him up. He has two flight plans, that one and another with a different private carrier. He didn’t use his name on the other one, but all the details are the same. It’s him.TheHLTreservation is supposed to be a decoy.”

Alicia nodded. “Yes. But it’s weird that he isn’t already gone. I would think he would be in more of a hurry.”

Isaiah spoke up. “These flight plans were made yesterday. He already knew he was leaving, so… maybe that made him bold enough to carry out the assault, thinking his getaway was already in the works.”

“When did he make the plans?” I asked.

“It was pretty late at night.”

Okay.

So before he had his call with me.

That offered the tiniest bit of reprieve from my guilt. My antagonizing him definitely hadn’t helped, but it seemed like he already had some plan of action ready to go.

“What was his end game with this?” Alicia mused. “Why did he even leave her alive, after what he did? He had to know thePredatorsweren’t going to let this rest, so what more would he have had to lose, when he was already about to leave?”

It was a fucked-up thing to consider, but we had to.

Whyhadhe left her alive? It wasn’t as if killing her crossed some special line after the shit he’d already done, so what was it?

“Do you know if he drugged her?” Alicia asked, making me frown.

“I don’t think so, but I’m not sure. What makes you ask?”

“It would just make a little more sense. If she was incapacitated and couldn’t call anyone, it would’ve given him time to make his getaway, without killing anybody.”

Isaiah nodded. “I’m guessing he left because he needed to get his shit in order before he got on the flight?”

“We don’t have to do all the speculation,” I spoke up, shaking my head as I stood “We can just get the answers directly from the bitch himself.”

There wasnothing I hated more than a man who preyed on women.

That wasn’t a particularly unpopular opinion by any means—they were societally unacceptable in general, but experience had given me aspecificdistaste.

A personal disdain.

That was why it was no hardship for me to sit fully immersed in the dark shadows of a mostly empty airfield, waiting on Kev to show up.

Actually, it was damn near a gift.

It gave me plenty of time to think.

What if he doesn’t show up?

Huh.

I hadn’t really considered that.

The intel was good, and we were rarely wrong about our deductions when it came to things like this.

One of us?

Maybe.

Butallof us coming to the same incorrect conclusion, that Kev would be here?
