Whatwasa little surprising was when the woman herself came out from the back instead of letting one of the other salespeople tend to me, greeting me with a hug. It had been a bit since I’d seen her. Brandon made sure there was some distance between her and this whole situation.

When I thought about the way Renard had attempted to use me against Onyx… I didn’t blame him.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, seeming genuinely surprised by my presence. “Blue just told me like an hour ago that you were supposed to be basically on bed rest?”

I chuckled. “I’m sure that’s what he would prefer, but I’ve never been great at sitting still and Doc says I’m fine,” I told her. “Besides all that… I want a new bike.”

“Ahhh,” she mused. “You got anything in particular in mind?”

“I just want the prettiest thing you’ve got in here,” I told her, and her face lit up.

“That’s interesting, because Ijustgot a little something in yesterday. Matte white and gold.”

“Ooooh,” I groaned. “Show me the way.”

“Happily.” She grinned, turning and motioning for me to follow her. “So what do you think about this stuff with Blue? It seems like he’s finally adjusting to not being an only child,” she said, tweaking her pace so we were walking side by side.

“He told you everything about him and Onyx?”

She nodded. “I’m just glad he’s come to some acceptance. I’ve run out of different ways to cuss his ass out.”

“Oh that probably just made it take longer for him to come around to it.” I laughed. “Nobody was on his side.”

Nessa chuckled. “I mean, I understand him being upset about it, but he was taking that shit out on the wrong person. But it seems like everybody is good now?”

She phrased that last thing as a question instead of a statement, like she was seeking confirmation from me, and I gave it.

“As far as I can tell,” I agreed. “We’re hoping we can all just kind of get back to normal,” I said.

“What even is that these days?”

“I can’t speak for anybody else, but for me? Adding to my collection on a whim,” I answered, my eyes lighting up as soon as we turned the corner and my gaze landed on the bike she wanted to show me.

She was right.

It was beautiful.

The pipes, inner workings, and tires were black, but everything else was either gleaming matte white or a beautifully velveted gold.

“I just know this thing is a bitch to keep clean,” I muttered, crouching down to take a look at the metal work on the tire spokes.

“Yes,” Nessa agreed. “But isn’t that part of the fun?”

I grinned and nodded at her; she was right.

I got in lots of my best thinking in my garage, using a tiny, soft brush to buff out little imperfections on any of my beauties, polishing them, customizing them.

The kind of shit a motorcycle enthusiastusuallygot to do, when she wasn’t absorbed with warring with drug lords and… super villains.

“How much is it?” I asked as I straightened up, damn near scared to hear the number, but knowing it was coming home with me either way.

“That is none of your concern actually,” Nessa said and I hiked up an eyebrow as I turned to her.

“Excuse me?”

She grinned. “It’s already yours,” she explained. “I told Blue about it when it came in, and as soon ashesaw it… he told me to hold it for you. It was just waiting on you to come in and ask about it; however long it would’ve taken.”

“What?”I asked, mind blown. “Mr.what do you need all these damn bikes for?”
