“Liv, open the damn door,” a man yells. I’m pretty sure it’s Killian. Great.

I let out a heavy sigh and answer the door.

“What the fuck do you want Killian? I told you to leave.”

He doesn’t answer, just pushes past me, followed by his brother and their women. I’ve only met Bella and Alex twice, both times I was serving them in the VIP area of the club. They are both gorgeous. Bella looks like a damn supermodel with her long blonde locks and brown eyes. She’s dressed in a pair of figure-hugging white jeans and a black tank top, with a blazer over the top. I glance down and notice that she is wearing classic black Louboutin’s, and Alex, she’s just as pretty. Her chocolate brown hair is curled and resting over her right shoulder, she’s dressed in blue skinny jeans and knee-length tan, brown boots that I’m pretty sure are Valentino, and she has a white button-down shirt on, tucked into her jeans. Jesus, these women scream money and power, and I suddenly feel very self-conscious dressed in my signature black ripped skinny jeans, white converse and black tank top.

I take a breath, and as I look up, I catch Alex’s bright blue eyes looking back at me. I’m expecting to see a look of disgust, but all I see is compassion, in both hers and Bella’s eyes.

Connor moves and puts his arm around Alex, watching me. I jump when I feel Bella touch my arm, just as I see Killian close the door. I feel like I can’t breathe, my apartment is small and having all four of them in the same room is making it feel even smaller.

“Hey, you remember us from the club?” Bella asks, her voice quiet and calm.

I nod, not sure why I’m finding it difficult to speak.

She points to the couch, indicating for me to sit down. Killian hands me a glass of water, while Connor sits on the chair, pulling Alex into his lap.

I take a large sip of water and finally take in the men; they are dressed in their standard dark colours.

They are both wearing dark jeans, but Connor is wearing a navy T-shirt––its tight on the shoulders and across the chess, showing off his muscles. Killian is wearing a casual black shirt, his top two buttons open, but it’s just as tight as Connor’s. Damn, these brothers are ripped.

Bella takes a seat next to me, rubbing my arm. Killian, however, just stands in the centre of the room, his eyes boring into me, and once again, I find I’m self-conscious under his scrutiny. I swallow and glance at Connor, then up at Killian.

Knowing I just need to be alone right now, I look between the brothers and find my voice.

“Look, I have things to do. What do you want?”

Killian raises his eyebrows, but it’s Connor who speaks.

“What happened just before we got here? Why did you scream?”

“I… what? It’s nothing.”

Killian scoffs then throws my phone on the sofa next to me.

“I think your phone might disagree. Now, what has you so upset?”

I stand and head to the door, yank it open and turn back to them.

“None of your goddamn business. Now leave.”

None of them move, and Killian––the cocky son of a bitch––just takes my seat on the sofa, crossing his leg over his knee, smiling.

Clearly, the tough act isn’t getting me anywhere. I internally sigh, staying at the door and looking at the girls.

“Please, I just need to be alone right now, please…” My voice breaks on the last ‘please’, and I can’t finish what I was going to say.

The girls smile, Alex getting up and walking to me. She puts her hand on the door and gently closes it, shaking her head at me.

“We can’t do that, Olivia. We came here to talk to you, then heard you scream, and you kinda scared us.”

She leads me back to the sofa and Bella moves closer to Killian, making space for me.

I sit and Alex kneels in front of me, placing her hand on my knee. “Talk to us. Maybe we can help, and if we can’t, then maybe we can just be an ear to listen.”

“I appreciate the thought, but I’m okay, thank you. Could you please just tell me what you were doing here to begin with?” My tone softens, these people don’t deserve my bitterness.

Nobody speaks for a moment. Connor pulls out his phone and we all turn to him, his thumbs moving quickly across the screen as he sends a message. We all just sit and watch him. I feel really tense waiting for someone to say something, then I see Connor nod, and Killian turns to me.
