“Liv? Are you okay?”

“Oh shit, Mr O’Farrell, you scared me.” Giving myself a mental shake, I start to walk towards the door. “I’m sorry, not having the best shift, I just needed a minute before I break something else,” I respond, trying to make light of the moment.

“It’s just Connor, Liv. Let’s go in my office and talk.”

“No, I really need to get back to work, I can’t leave Josie, she’s already pretty mad at me right now.” What I don’t say is that she’s always mad at me, the woman hates me, and I’m not entirely sure why. Although, I think it may have something to do with jealousy.

He steps towards me, grabbing my arm and gently leading me inside to his office. I try to pull away, but he just shakes his head.

“Ten minutes, Liv, that’s all I’m asking, and I’ll let Josie know that I asked you to come and talk to me.”

He sits me on the couch and leaves the office.

Taking a look around, I realise the last time I was in here was after Ronan went off at me and tried to strangle Dan.

I look up at the wall of monitors and notice Connor talking to Josie. She’s smiling at him like butter wouldn’t melt. Damn that woman is a bitch. He looks pissed, shaking his head and then he walks away from her.

I watch as he walks in the door and heads for his desk, removing his jacket in the process. The man is ripped––all the brothers are. They are cut from some decent genes the O’Farrell family.

“What’s got you so out of sorts, Liv? It’s not like you to not be on one hundred percent on your game.”

“It’s nothing, I’m sorry, I’m letting my personal life invade my work life, it won’t happen again.”

I stand to leave as he gets up and rounds the desk.

“We’re here, if you need to talk or if you need help… all you have to do is ask.”

“I appreciate it, thank you, but I’m good.”

I leave his office before he can stop me. I need to give my head a shake and get through this damn shift.

This has been one hell of a shift, we’ve been rammed all night, but thankfully, I managed to go the rest of the night without smashing anything else.

Maxim and Andre are here in the VIP section with the entire O’Farrell family, including Ronan. He walked right past me on his way up there, he didn’t even look at me. Thankfully, Josie has been up there, she didn’t think I was fit enough tonight to be up there. I mean, she’s probably right tonight.

It’s been two weeks since Thanksgiving, and the day I found Ronan at his brother’s grave. He hasn’t mentioned anything to me, and I’m not even sure he remembers it.

I haven’t even called his family out on putting me up in the same building as him. I don’t care enough, I’ve had too much on my mind what with the custody battle, and if I’m honest, it’s nice knowing he’s so close, even if he’d rather pretend I didn’t exist.

I’m wiping down the bar when I feel strong arms wrap around my waist, and I know it’s Maxim. I know his arms and smell anywhere––he smells like a mix of pine and cedar.

“You almost done, krasivaya?”

He lays kisses on my neck, and I pull away. “Give me twenty minutes, I’ll meet you out by the car.”

Smiling, I kiss him on the cheek and head to the other side of the bar to clear the glasses.

I clear the bar top, putting the dirty glasses in a crate, ready to take through to the back for washing. I’m replacing the bottles on the back wall, when out of the corner of my eye, I see Josie running her hands up Ronan’s arms. I can’t make out what she’s saying to him, they are too far away, but she looks pleased with herself, and he looks comfortable.

I distract myself clearing up, but I can’t help stealing glances their way. She’s leaning into him, pushing her tits into his chest, and his hand is on her bare shoulder.

She might be a complete bitch, but she is pretty. She has shoulder length blonde hair, intense dark green eyes, and cheek bones to die for, she has a huge chest and legs that go on for days, and a waist that isn’t much bigger that Maddie’s.

I can see why he would like her; I realise that sickening sensation in my stomach is jealousy, I’m actually jealous of that bitch and the fact that she has his attention. I have no right to be, he and I aren’t together, and I’m with Maxim, so I definitely shouldn’t be feeling like this.

I give myself a mental shake and grab the crate to take to the back. As I reach the end of the bar, Maxim appears, taking the crate from me.

He smiles down at me. “Let’s get you home.”
