Me

Figured you and Killian needed a little space.

Ronan

That’s not what I asked.

I read the message then place the phone on my bed as I head into the bathroom to fill the tub. I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. My complexation is pale, and I have dark circles under my eyes––I really need to try and catch up on some sleep.

I roll my neck from side to side, when I hear my phone pinging with another message.

Ronan

Where are you, Liv?

Me

Home. Can I call you later?

Ronan

No, you can see me later when we head to Killian’s.

Me

Can we not? Let’s just see one another after Christmas.

I wait for a few minutes, watch as the bubbles appear as if he’s typing a message then disappear. Assuming he’s pissed and no longer wants to talk, I hit play on my phone. ‘Every Time We Touch’by Cole Rolland and Lauren Babic blasts from the speaker as I add a bath bomb to the water and climb in before it’s even finished fizzing.

Closing my eyes, I let the water soothe my body and the music soothe my mind.

My heart aches at how much Ronan is hurting. I wasn’t expecting him to be so open today, not with me there. I don’t even think Killian was expecting him to be so honest, and he seemed just as shocked as I felt.

I’m surprised they talk so openly about the things that they do in front of me, but I think I’m more surprised that I’m not running scared. I knew they were a crime family, I should be running scared, but I’m not… all it does is make me feel safe.

My music is so loud and I’m so lost in thought that I don’t hear the door open. It’s only when I feel the air shift around me that I know I’m not alone.

My eyes shoot open just as Ronan kneels at the side of the bath, his hand cupping my cheek, his other hand dipping into the water and swirling around my lower abdomen.

“Tell me, mo ghrá, you blowing me off because of what you heard at the cemetery?”

Swallowing but losing all ability to speak, I shake my head at him.

“Good.” He grabs my hands and places them on either side of the bath. “Don’t move them.”

I swallow again and nod as his hand slides down my cheek to my neck. He leans down, kissing me as he squeezes, his tonguing sliding into my mouth, demanding control.

He continues to kiss me as his other hand enters the water, slowly moving up my stomach to my breasts. His fingers lightly swirl around my nipple and it puckers as I pull away from the kiss. “Ronan, please make me come.”

His eyes darken, and he bites his bottom lip as he considers my plea.

We continue to watch each other, me not moving, him with one hand still around my neck and the other nipping and twisting my nipple. My head tips back, and I groan as he twists to the point of pain.

“Look at me.”

I quickly move my head enough to look at him. “Keep your eyes on me and tell me if you want me to stop.”

I shake my head at him. “I need words, sweetheart, need to hear you say it.”
