“Wait… how can he know I’m with Finn? You said you took care of it. You said that he wouldn’t know where I was until after the wedding. You said by the time he found out it would be too late for him.”

“Princess, breathe.” Finn grabs my face and turns me to face him. “Need you to relax. Stress isn’t good, remember? It’s going to be okay, but I need you to breathe for me. Can you do that?”

It takes everything in me not to cry, but I give him a small nod and take a few deep breaths.

I forget everyone else is in the room when his lips meet mine. It’s gentle, it’s loving, it feels like a promise, and it’s exactly what I need to calm down.

Pulling away, his eyes never leave mine. “Your Da wants Seamus to take you tonight. He wants you to marry Carrera, you know this. Seamus wants to take you away tonight, he wants to take you somewhere safe, but right here, I’m giving you the choice. If you want to walk away, if you want to leave, then walk out that door right now. You can. All you have to do is tell me you don’t want to marry me.”

“Finn, what are you doing?” Alex calls out, but he puts a hand up to stop anyone from saying anything else.

I quickly glance at my brother and Killian, and then I look back to Finn. “I… I don’t understand, you said––”

“I know what I said, but I’m giving you a choice. If you don’t want to marry me, then all you have to do is say it.”

He watches me, his eyes flicking back and forth between mine. He’s so good at hiding his emotions, he’s so good at switching them off, but right now, he’s letting me see them. His beautiful green eyes show me fear. I don’t need to see it, I know what my answer is, but knowing he’s prepared to show me gives me something I need.

Shaking my head, I place my hands on either side of his face, mirroring his. “I want to stay with you. I want to marry you, Finn. I really do.”

He lets out a breath as his forehead lands on mine. We stay like that for a few minutes, soaking each other in, when someone clears their throat. He kisses me then pulls me from my seat and into his lap.

“Glad you said that, princess. I have something else to tell everyone… I have moved the wedding forward. We’re getting married on Friday morning at ten a.m.”

The kitchen is silent for another few minutes, before his mother speaks up. “You couldn’t wait another week, could you, son?” We all turn to her, expecting her to look mad or upset, but she doesn’t. She has a huge smile plastered across her face.

She gets up from her chair, stopping right in front of me, before pulling me up out of Finn’s lap. “Welcome to the family, sweet girl.” She wraps her arms around me, holding me like only a mother could, and I melt into her, relief washing over me as I hear the others get up and congratulate Finn.

“Mind if I steal my sister for a minute there, Mary?” She pulls away from me, placing a kiss on my forehead before allowing Seamus to pull me away from the celebrating O’Farrell’s.

“I’ll never let Da or Carrera get their hands on you, but are you sure this is what you want? If not, I’ll get you out of here right now.”

“Stop.” I grip his upper arms, making sure I have his full attention. “I want this, Seamus. I really do. I know you won’t believe me, or even understand it, but I love him, and I want us to bring our baby up together. And I know now he wants this. I didn’t before, but I do now. I know I’m young, but you have to trust that I know my own mind.”

He doesn’t say anything else, and he simply smiles and pulls me in for a hug. “You squeeze me any tighter, you’re going to squish me.”

He laughs, pulling away. “Sorry, kiddo.”

We spend the rest of the night celebrating. Everyone except Killian and Bella leave around two a.m. Bella fell asleep a little after midnight, and Killian carried her up to one of the spare rooms before coming back down.

“Cara,” I hear Finn whisper in my ear. My eyes flicker open, and I’m wondering when I closed them––the last thing I remember was Finn and Killian talking about heading to the gym tomorrow, or today, technically.

I stretch out and realise I’m in bed. Finally opening my eyes fully and looking at Finn, I see him smile. “Good morning, beautiful.”

“Wait, it’s morning?”

“Yeah, it’s almost eight.” He leans down, his lips connecting with mine. I try to pull away, I don’t want to kiss him with morning breath, but he grips my chin, holding me in place. I stop fighting it, allowing his tongue entry into my mouth. I snake my hand around his neck, pulling him closer to me, forcing his tongue back with mine.

I feel him smile around me, but he only lets me control the kiss for a few seconds before he sucks on my tongue before forcing it back with his. He bites my lip, pulling it as he breaks the kiss.

“I’m heading to the gym with my brothers. Bells and Alex are downstairs with breakfast. I’ll be back in a couple of hours, then we’re heading out.”

“Where are we going?”

“You’ll see. Enjoy your morning, I won’t be long.”

“Wait…” I grab him before he can get up. “Will I be safe? What if da––”

He kisses me, instantly halting my questions. He pulls away, placing a kiss on the tip of my nose. “You’re safe. You have an entire security team right outside, and I’ll only be a couple of hours.”
