The blond alpha bared his teeth at his friend, then turned back to Blue. "Take off your clothes," he ordered.

Blue's lips trembled, and his eyes went wide as he reached for the hem of his shirt. He moved without wanting to, his wolf having no fight against the dominant alpha. His hands shook hard as he struggled not to pull it over his head.

I frantically cut my eyes around, looking for Byriel.

"Faster!" the bald wolf roared.

Blue's shirt slipped off his head, and a high-pitched wail left his lips.

I pounced, not giving a fuck if Byriel was in position or not.

My wolf pushed forward as I landed swiftly between the wolves and Blue. I locked my powerful jaws around the bald wolf's throat, ending him with a snap of his spine. The blond alpha jumped to attention and landed a quick blow to my ribs, knocking me back and giving him a chance to shift into his wolf.

I edged around the white wolf while he snarled and growled deep and low. He was smaller than me, and I hoped he'd see the battle he was sure to lose.

Out of the corner of my eye, Blue stood up and grabbed his shirt, pulling my attention for a quick moment. It was just enough for the white wolf to attack.

His sharp teeth pushed into my neck, forcing me to the ground. I whipped around in his hold, trying to angle my body to keep him from being able to snap my spine or puncture a vein. Kicking my back legs out, I clawed at his gut and shoved my claws deep into his ribs, struggling to break free.

The white wolf let out a deep growl, tightening his jaws and piercing my flesh. I grunted and tried to flip our positions but found myself struggling to breathe. The wolf dug his claws into my back and turned, twisting my head with him. My eyes burned from lack of air.

I tried to move again, but I was stuck beneath his weight and suffocating. Narrowing my eyes, I tried to look at the fucker about to end my life, letting him know I didn't fear what was next.

My mind drifted to Tzidal, and I closed my eyes.

The heavy weight on my back disappeared as a horrific pain scraped along my neck. Sucking in as much air as I could, I struggled to get my paws under me. I swayed for a moment as my eyes finally came into focus. Byriel's sleek, grey wolf stood over the blond alpha's dead body, his fangs dripping with blood.

Byriel's wolf-form stepped forward, butting his head into my side, checking on me. Blue was nowhere in sight. I had to trust he got the omega to safety.

When I didn't move, Byriel shifted into his human form. "Are you okay?" he asked, a hand pushing through the fur on my back.

I let out a snort, letting him know I was fine.

Byriel nodded, then grabbed his discarded pants, pulling them on. He motioned me forward, sprinting through the trees.

I followed Byriel through the burning village. Chaos still ravaged the land, but we didn't stop to check on the wounded. The sound of rushing water hit my ears, and Tzidal's floral scent filled my lungs. My paws beat the ground as I forced my wolf to move faster and harder toward my mate.

I jumped over a massive fallen tree then my wolf let out a sharp whine as Tzidal came into focus.

She stood at a ledge, her arms locked around Blue. Lex stayed between the omegas and the mayhem erupting not far from them. The siren was still the young man but somehow bigger and more menacing. The dangerous energy that rolled off him was so thick it was impressive.

Seeing me approach, Lex bared his pointed teeth and flung his razor-sharp claws. I immediately stopped and quickly shifted into my human, forcing the change so fast that my bones rubbed painfully across each other. Tzidal launched both herself and Blue into my arms, relief consuming her sweet face. I wrapped my arms around both of them, feeling Blue's whole body shake with fear. Tzidal remained strong for him—not a single tremor or tear in sight.

"You'll need to jump," Byriel said, looking over the edge.

The drop to the black water below wasn't a dangerous height, but I didn't know if the Omegas could swim.

Byriel jerked to run back into the village, but I gripped his arm, stopping him.

"We have to help them," he yelled, motioning to the screaming villagers. His eyes were wild with determination. I couldn't help but respect his desire, but I couldn't manage Tzidal, Blue, and Lex in the rushing waters on my own.

"There's nothing we can do," I yelled over the rush of the river and the roar of an out-of-control fire. He cut his eyes back into the fight, madness still consuming the small village.

"Byriel," I said, pulling his attention back to me. I glanced over the ledge. "I can't do this without you." He set his jaw tight, the look of an Alpha not prepared to give up. "There's nothing we can do to help them. This fight is over."

Byriel's gaze moved over Lex and Tzidal. Then they fell to Blue. His eyes flashed red before quickly returning dark green. He took a deep breath then his features fell as defeat set in.

He nodded and grabbed Blue by the upper arm, securing the omega against his chest.
