“Where are they going?” Blue asked as Joon carried me away from the camp.

I heard Byriel’s deep chuckle. “There is little more important to a newly mated alpha than taking their claim.”

“Oh,” Blue whispered. I could practically hear his cheeks blush.

Joon walked for a while, moving quickly through the forest while I dangled over his unforgiving shoulder. I was growing bored and wanted to walk, but I knew there was no point in asking. He wasn’t going to let me go.

“Joon?” He didn’t respond, just kept walking. “I want to talk about Blue. About—”

“We can talk about the Omega later.”

“We need to find a village or encampment. We need to find someone to take care of him.”

Joon agreed, clearly not listening to a word I said.

“I just can’t leave him in the woods out here all alone, and I want—”

“Omega,” he snapped, his tone telling me to be quiet. “We will figure out what to do with the youngling in the morning. Right now, I don’t give a fuck.” A soft rumble pushed out of his chest. “Now quiet down. You’ll work yourself up.”

I suppressed the urge to argue. He was the one worked up, but there was no point in provoking the beast. “Where are we going?” I asked.

He smacked my butt hard. “Quiet. We’re almost there.”

My bottom ached, but the sting made my nipples hard and my heart race. His aggression flowed freely, and I couldn’t wait to get him alone.

“Here we are,” Joon said, placing me carefully on my feet.

We stood in front of a large spruce beside a massive cut of rock.

I turned and looked at Joon. “I don’t get it. Where are we?”

Smiling, he took my hand and led me around the tree. A break in the rocks revealed itself, and he pulled me through a cavernous tunnel. The air was cool, feeling so good against my flushed skin. Even in the crisp fall weather, I was heated.

A shimmering light appeared at the end of the tunnel, and I stepped out into the most beautiful pocket of nature I had ever seen. Everything was so green and lush, the chilly weather forgotten behind us. Smooth rock circled the little cove, caging in the little paradise. Looking up, I could see out of the top of the rockface. The last rays of the most beautiful sunset painted the sky pink and orange.

“This is amazing,” I gasped. “How did you know about this?”

“I didn’t go hunting,” Joon smiled, his dimple gracing his cheek. “I scented the spring while trying to find somewhere to take you tonight, and I knew you’d love it.”

A soft mist curled around the trees and rocks, and bellflowers swayed gently near a small hot spring of crystal clear water, steam rising from the top. Everything was so soft and beautiful. With a content sigh, I moved my hand over the smooth rock, noticing how dark and shiny it was, like lava glass.

I turned to Joon, wanting to tease him a bit, but stopped before I could speak.

His tall, muscular form stood shirtless before me. His head was tilted back as he looked at the sky. I dragged my gaze down his firm chest, over the cut lines of his abs, to his large hands that hung at his sides. Those hands...

Sensing my eyes on him, Joon turned to me, and his eyes went hooded with desire.

He stalked toward me.

My heart pounded in my chest, and slick gathered between my thighs. With each step he took, I took one backward until my back touched the smooth rock wall. Joon braced his muscular arms just next to my head, caging me in place.

I felt so small and helpless under his hungry gaze. I loved it.

Slowly, Joon leaned in and licked into my mouth, twisting our tongues together at a slow, sensual pace. I moaned and moved to circle my hands around his neck, but he broke the kiss and took a small step back. A soft whine left my throat.

“Turn around.” His voice was deep and sexy, a hint of anger laced around the edges. It made me pant a little. “Hands on the wall.”
