“Lucky bastard. If I met a woman as beautiful as you, I wouldn’t still be single.” Blaster says.

“It’s a good thing I snatched her up before you could try and get your grubby paws on her.” Eliot jokes, causing the man in front of us to let out a booming laugh. Eliot turns to me and brings his lips to mine. “You going back to your office? I’ll have one of the prospects bring you some lunch. You need to feed little man, and yourself.”

“Yeah. I’ve got a lot of work to get done. Can you have him bring me some cheese puff and chocolate sauce! Oh, and some pickles and hot sauce!” I ask him. I’ve been craving those two things the past few months.

“Anything you want little minx. You need to eat a sandwich or something as well.” I nod and give him a quick kiss before going to my office. When I make it back to where my office is, I flop down in my office chair. I let out a groan at the blissful feeling of being off my feet and giving my back a rest. The downside of being pregnant is the aches and pains that come with it, but in the end it’s definitely worth it.

I’m not sure how long I’ve been working when a knock comes on my door. “Come in!” I look up as the door opens and see one of the newer prospects coming in. “Hey Carson. Just set it there on the table by the couch. Thank you.”

“No problem, Alanis. If you need anything else, I’ll be outside your door. Trigger asked me to keep a watch over you while he can’t.” I give him a smile and nod. Carson is a good kid. He just lost his way for a little while. When Westyn brought him in he was fresh out of juvie. He’s completely changed over the past few months he’s been here. He’s going to make an excellent member. I’ve talked to him a bit here and there and I know he’s a good kid. The guys decided to help the ones that need it or want it I should say. Each of them comes through my office a few times here and there. I’ve made a point to make sure they’re doing okay and settling in well. Between me and the other ol’ ladies, they have the motherly figure that most in their situation don’t.

I get up from my desk and make my way to the couch. I ditch my shoes and start to eat my food. At first bite, I let out a groan. This is exactly what I needed. It hits just the right spot. I continue eating my food and watchingVikingsas I do. I’m obsessed with the show and watch it whenever I can. Eliot’s not a big fan of it, so I watch it when he’s not around. Once I’ve finished my food, I lay down on the couch with a full belly. I’m in need a major nap. I have two hours until the kids are home from school and I’m going to take advantage of it. It doesn’t take long for sleep to take me into its depths.

I’m not sure how long I’ve been asleep when my phone ringing wakes me up. That’s when I hear all hell breaking lose in the clubhouse. I see Posey’s picture pop on my phone and decide to find out what’s going on in the main room after I get off the phone with my daughter. “Hello?”

“Mommy.” She says in a whisper. I can tell she’s been crying, and I instantly go on alert. “They’ve got me. I don’t know who, I didn’t get a chance to see their faces, but…”

“Who baby? Where are you?” I try to stay calm, but I can hear the hysteria creeping into my voice. “Posey talk to me. What happened?”

“I was walking out towards Gavin’s car. I was running late. I was hit over the head. I think I’m in the trunk of a car. Please help me mommy. Get daddy.” She’s scared. I’m terrified.

“Okay baby girl. I’m going to get him now. Just hang tight. Mommy’s here.” I rush out of my office and into the main room.

“The car stopped. I’m so scared.” She says.

“Stay on the phone with me Posey.” I walk towards the main room. “ELIOT!” His head shoots towards me and I can tell he knows somethings happened. It’s all over his face. My eyes move over to a distraught Gavin. “It’s Posey.” The room goes quiet, and I put the phone on speaker.

“Posey. Baby girl. Daddy’s here. Where are you?” Eliot asks.

“I don’t know. They’re coming.” Posey says. We hear the thud of her phone dropping.

“We’re coming for you baby girl. Stay strong.” Eliot says. The attention of everyone in the room is on the phone. What happens next has my blood going ice cold.

“NO! Let me go! Please.” Posey’s hysterical voice comes through the phone.

“Shut the fuck up bitch.” A man’s voice that I don’t recognize comes over the line. I hear the struggle that she’s putting up. I hear the skin-on-skin contact. “What’s this? Who did you call?” He’s found the phone. The last thing I hear before the phone goes dead is my daughters screams. I drop to my knees. My daughter is gone. Someone has her.

After Alanis went into her office, I sent the newest prospect after her lunch. Carson just came out of juvie after getting involved with the wrong crowd. We decided in church to start a rehabilitation type program for troubled youth. We started it last year and so far, we’ve had some success in it. We’ve even got families that are having trouble with their children reaching out. The men take care of the boys and the women take care of the girls. The ones that come through here end up talking to the ol’ ladies more than the members. Some decided to stay after their time is up and others decide to take the help offered to get their life in a better place. “Church!”

The men in the room turn towards the room where we hold church and we make our way in. I sit in my seat and wait for the last member to come in. Once the doors are shut, Westyn bangs the gavel on the table, signaling the start of church. “As you all know, Megan has been MIA since we handed her over to Venom. We also have the threat of Alanis’s parents and the fucking governor of Indiana on our asses. They’ve been quiet over the past couple months and if their MO has anything to say about it, they’re about to make an appearance. I have it on good authority that Megan has been spotted with them. We were finally able to get their location earlier today. Snoopy has been working day and night trying to get this information for us.” Westyn cuts off and nods toward Snoopy.

“Her parents have been staying at the governors home. It turns out that her mother is Governor Hanson’s sister. He’s the one that helped Mr. Barton get into office. Turns out that this is why Alanis was promised to him. Originally, she was promised to Charles Marlow until she got pregnant and that changed everything. Hanson found out and made a deal with his sister and brother-in-law. He and his wife split about three years ago and their daughter has leukemia. Our dear ole governor is dirty. He’s got his hands dipped in many different organizations. Mafia, MC, local gangs.” Snoopy says.

“That’s fucking sick. She’s his fucking niece.” Griller says.

“This is true, but it’s not common knowledge. I had to dig very, very deep to get this information. This family is fucked up ten ways to Sunday. The only one in this family that didn’t marry someone that is part of their family is Mrs. Barton. No, she was sold to the Barton’s son when she was of age. The two families wanted to merge together, and what better way to do that than marriage?” Snoopy pipes in. I can’t seem to wrap my head around this. It’s too damn much. Fucking sick. He’s her fucking uncle and wants to marry her. Among other things.

“So, we’ve got a sick as fuck family on our hands. What else is fucking new? I want someone on Alanis and Posey both. We don’t know who they’re coming after, but if I had to guess, it’d be Posey. It’s the easiest way to get to Alanis. Take her daughter and the mama bear comes out.” Westyn says.

“We’ve got men at the school the entire time the kids are there. We’ve had them in place since the first attempt to get Posey. My question is, what does Megan have to gain from joining forces with them? How did they even know about her to begin with?” Axyl pipes in. He has some good answers.

“She thinks that it’ll get her me and Morgan. She thinks that if Alanis is out of the picture, she’ll be able to swoop in and make things better. That’s what most women assume when they do this shit. I’m sure they’ve done their research on us, as we have them. However, we’re easier to find information on. We don’t have anything buried that deep. The only thing that can’t be found about the club is the illegal shit that we were involved in, but we’re legit now. They don’t have anything on us to force our hand or attempt to. That’s how they found out about Megan. We were together for four years before she disappeared. Now she wants what she knows she can’t have.” I speak up for the first time since the meeting started.

“There’s more.” Snoopy interjects. “She has some men from Venom’s club that are loyal to her. She was the one driving the car that chased Alanis. The men that were loyal to her are the ones that were doing the shooting. Venom didn’t catch them all. I was able to get video footage from traffic cams set up here and there. It wasn’t easy to clear the images, since the cameras are older than fucking dirt, but I did. I was able to get photos of the people in the car. The only window that was tinted was the windshield.” With each word he says, my blood boils hotter and hotter.

“They’re all fucking dead. Every last one of them. Give Megan to one of the ol’ ladies. She’s fucking gone too. They cost me to lose a child. My wife cries every damn night in her sleep because of it. She tries to be strong, but she’s in so much pain it’s not even funny. They will pay for what they caused her to go through. They caused her to lose one of her children. It kills me that we won’t be able to see them grow up with their twin, but it kills me even more when I wake up to my wife whimpering in her sleep and tears falling down her cheeks.” I snarl out.
