“I want you in the bedroom, ready, presenting, as soon as we get inside,” he told her grimly.

Shitty-come, bitty-come. He knew she’d orgasmed.

“Christ, what the fuck?” he yelled as the front door swung inwards and water poured out from the house. “Stay here,” he told her as he stepped into the water soaked entranceway. He went into the kitchen first, apparently assuming the kitchen faucet was running again—but found that was switched off. He headed to the bathroom. Pushing open the door he saw a waterfall cascading over the edge of the bath flooding the floor. He reached for the faucet and turned it off. He looked around at the devastation. Josie had had a bath that morning and she must have left the water running because, as far as he could see, there was no other explanation.

“Josie, come here,” he called.

Chapter 9

Brent Carmichael was there within half an hour. After a conference with Max, Josie was sent to pack essentials for them both. Meanwhile, Max phoned Nicky and Liam to ask if they could stay there overnight. Since staying with her grandparents would give them very little privacy, Brent promised to arrange for them to move temporarily into another house while theirs was being dried out and fixed up but he couldn’t have a house ready for them until Monday.

Josie sighed with relief; at least staying at her grandparents’ meant that Max couldn’t punish her. She knew this was only a reprieve but the flood gave him more than enough to think about. Hopefully her bad behavior today would simply recede from his mind.

“Josie, are you ready to go?” he called now. She replied she was and sloshed her way through into the living room. Brent told them to go ahead, reassuring them he would wait for the plumber to arrive. He told Max that he would lock up and drop the key around to them at the O’Donnells’ later on.

“This isn’t the way to my grandparents’ house,” Josie pointed out as Max drove toward the Dome.

“No, you and I have an appointment.”

“An appointment?” She wrinkled her nose with confusion.

“Mm-hmm.”

“Max?”

“Shush, wait and see.”

Her heart sank. She knew from his clipped tone that she was in serious trouble. Resentment burned, she didn’t want to be punished. It was time to make it clear that she only wanted to be a sub in the bedroom. Sheesh, even to her, that phrase was sounding like a repetitive drone.

“What about my grandparents? They’ll be expecting us.”

“No, I told Liam we’d be a couple more hours and we’d bring in take out to make it easy on Nicola, since she has enough to do with cooking us a special welcome meal tomorrow. Remember, we planned to make our special announcement?”

She took a deep breath. “About that.”

He glanced at her sharply, then moved his gaze back onto the road. “You’ve changed your mind then?”

“No, but I want to make it clear once again that I’m only—”

“Stop it! I don’t want to hear that platitude again! When we get inside the Dome we are discussing that ridiculous statement you keep repeating.”

“But—”

“Enough! You know I hate being distracted when I drive. I promise that you will have my full attention when we arrive. Button it until then, okay?”

That’s what she was worried about, hisfullattention. Her bottom clenched with apprehension.

She followed Max from the car inside the Dome and was surprised when he used the security keypad to get them into the inner sanctum, then pulled out a key to Brent’s own office. He gestured her in before him, always the gentleman. She loved that about him.

“Strip off and kneel,” he ordered with quiet authority.

She did as he bid. He pulled out the chair from behind the desk and placed it in the center of the room then seated himself. She knelt before him, eyes down.

“Eyes on me.”

She lifted them to meet his stern gaze.

“Do you remember leaving the bath water running?”
