“This is one day I shallnever forget,” she said, leaning against him in the back of the taxi later that evening.

“Good memories, I hope?” he asked.

“The best... except for my vertigo moment.”

“Did you enjoy dinner?” he asked.

“Yes, I felt safe in the restaurant, and the view was far enough away to be spectacular without being terrifying.”

“Good,” he said and kissed her.

Chapter Twenty-One

The following day Pennyawoke with an itchy nose. As she rubbed away at the tickle, a soft guffaw brought her fully awake. She opened her eyes.

David was stroking her nose with a cat tail.

“Happy anniversary, darling,” he said, holding out her build-a-kitten. She scrambled up and hugged it to her.

“Oh, it is so sweet! Look at the gorgeous eyes and she is so soft!” She held it out for him to feel.

He smiled. “Sure is soft. What are you going to call her?”

“Smokey. I already decided her name when we ordered her.”

“Nice.”

She stroked and admired her new cuddly.

“Penny?” She looked up. David held out a perfect long-stemmed red rose.

Taking the proffered flower, she brought it to her nose, enjoying the musky fragrance.

The bed shifted as David left the room returning with two champagne flutes filled with mimosa. He settled beside her and gave her a glass, which she took and chinked against his before she sipped.
