“Oh, David, you are; you are all those things to me!”

“Darn right I am, an’ don’t you forget it!” He tugged her by her neck, his lips crushing hers, searing her to him, and this kiss was given with passion, a pure statement of love and possession. She melded against him as he cupped her head to hold her in place while he plundered her mouth. As he drew away from her finally, she stretched to follow his mouth, reluctant to let him go.

“Want to go?” he asked.

She nodded. “Please.”

Scooping an arm about her waist, he led her from the club. They met the three men in suits in the passageway. The man who had been their host for the evening spoke to David in rapid French. The two men shook hands and David guided her onward and out of the building.

“What did he say?” she asked as they emerged onto the street.

“The club is sending a car to take us back to our hotel, with their compliments,” he explained, tucking her under his arm.

“Are you cold?” he asked.

“Not actually cold, just chilled by what happened... David?”

“Yeah, babe?”

“Please, can we go and visit Disneyland?”

“Thank the stars; I thought you’d never ask!”

Chapter Twenty-Three

Leaving the Ritz atten that morning and driving the twenty miles to Disney Paris, they arrived at lunchtime.

David pulled up outside the Disney hotel. Penny squealed, pointing to the famous Mickey Mouse clock set high upon on the tower. She hung onto David’s arm as they moved across the paved area full of sparking fountains, her head swivelling constantly as she tried to take in everything around her.

“Have you looked up? It looks like the hotel has been coated in pink frosting!” she cried.

David hugged her. He booked them in at the reception, meanwhile Penny gazed around the light reception foyer with its large windows and white picket mezzanine landings as David booked them in. Their key card had a Mickey Mouse picture on one side, which brought a smile to her lips. The double room en-suite had a balcony with French doors that opened onto a wonderful view of the garden fountains below, and beyond that, the fun park spread before them. Penny loved the carved headboard at the top of their huge double bed with the Disney castle motif in the centre. David called her into the bathroom to see the running tiles that depicted the seven dwarfs. It was perfect.

That evening they ate in the California Grill off-white bone china plates with a gold edge that had Walt Disney’s printed signature in gold emblazoned across the middle of every piece of china.

They both had steaks for dinner and Penny dropped all pretence about liking alcohol and drank Coke. Afterwards they had hot drinks together in the Café Fantasia.
