Indulging his wife, David allowed himself to be dragged around the large gift shop and was rewarded when Penny purchased a few dressing-up items, including an adult-sized Snow White costume.
The following day they were up early and out in the park enjoying the rides. Agreeing to ride Big Thunder Mountain first, they were delighted to find the queue short.
“Wow, that might be an old’un but it sure is a good’un!” David declared after they disembarked. “Okay, so where to next?”
Penny pointed. “That a-way, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril!” she said, excited.
With much squealing and laughter they made their way around the huge structure being scared by crocodiles and terrified by the sudden appearance of realistic-looking snakes. When they came out they were both gasping for a drink.
“Enjoying yourself?” David asked as they sat outside in the sunshine at one of the many cafés on site.
“Yeah, I am having so much fun!” she told him. “So, where to next?” she asked.
“Well, what would you like to do next?” he countered.
“No, I chose last time, it’s your turn.”
“Okay, I want to go on the Star Wars Hyperspace ride,” he said, consulting the park map to see where it was situated. “It’s that a-way. Ready?”
She nodded.
“Okay, let’s go!”

“Ihave to say thatwas our best day here so far!” Penny said on their final evening as she gazed at the fireworks lighting up the darkening navy sky. Stood together on their balcony, and watched the display draw to a close with a spectacular finale. David squeezed her waist. Penny dropped her head onto his shoulder and gazed at the last glimmering sparks as they drifted to the ground. Tomorrow they returned to England, back home to darling Honey, her father and sister... and a new normality.
He turned her to him and lowered his mouth. “I-love-you,” he told her between snatched kisses. Tightening his hold, he melded his lips more firmly to hers. “I suppose!” She sounded huffy. He loosened one arm and lightly smacked her butt.
“Listen to Daddy!” he reprimanded and immediately pulled her back against him, kissing the side of her neck. She mewled but settled into his hold.
“I love you. I know you have struggled with everything that’s happened. Your courage is something I’ve most admired about you. I don’t think I could have handled the situation you found yourself in as well as you have.”
She made to speak but he hushed her.
“People have different ways of de-stressing. Some love to ski, others read. People skydive while others collect objects. You like to shed the burden of adult cares by repeating the simple things you enjoyed as a child: colouring, playing dress-up, fairy tales, and dressing your dolls. There is nothing wrong with that...”
“I need to grow as a person and I can’t do that if I keep regressing into childhood. It isn’t right to be so irresponsible!” she burst out.
“So, don’t be a little for all hours of the day. We can use age-play as a hobby, and why not? As I said, people have all kinds of different hobbies. We have the rest of our lives to perfect our relationship...”
