“Long. Can I have a snack and watch tv?” she asks, walking up the stairs to the door.

I put the key in, and open it. “Of course.”

I spend the next hour thinking about last night and wanting to do it again. Why has it been so long since I’ve had great sex? I’m young! I don’t feel bad one bit for wanting it. I bite my lip, imagining Brodie pushing me against the wall and crouching down between my legs. That man has some magical hands.

My phone vibrates and it’s him. He must have just gotten off work.

Brodie: How was your day? Apparently, I had a ridiculous smile on my face and the guys wouldn’t shut up about it.

This is why Brodie stands out to me. Most men wouldn’t even be reaching out to me. They would play games and wait a couple of days. I like that he isn’t doing that and checking in on me. It shows he is interested.

Me: Tina wouldn’t stop asking me for details. You know how she is. We gotta be careful next time. No more sleepovers.

Although, I would be lying if I didn’t want to wake up in his arms, curled up on the couch.

Brodie: Did you tell her I made you come five times? I don’t know how much girls share with their friends. You might make her jealous, so probably better to keep that between us ;)

I laugh and Sherrie glances at me. Her gaze only stays on me for a couple of seconds before she goes back to watching tv.

The sex is magnificent, but I have to make sure he is someone I have a possible future with before I get to wrapped up in the cycle. I refuse to be in a relationship that won’t go anywhere again. I learned my lesson with Lee.

So, what do I want? An important factor is Sherrie and he does well with kids. The softball party didn’t faze him and that’s a definite plus. A major problem is going to be how he handles co-parenting. Even though I am not with Lee anymore, it’s important we maintain a relationship for our daughter. Will Brodie have a problem with that? To me, that’s a deal breaker. I don’t want conflict between my boyfriend and my child’s father. That’s unnecessary chaos. It’s too early to bring this up right now, but it’s something that’s going to be in the back of my head.

Me: Tina could tell but I’m not into discussing my sex life with others. Too personal. Please tell me you didn’t tell anyone?

We agreed not to label this.

Brodie: Tristan knows, but only because you didn’t tell me before we went out that you didn’t want anyone to know. But besides him, no one else knows. You were very adamant about not telling anyone. I haven’t told a soul. Pinky promise.

A knock sounds at the door, and Tina walks in.

“What are you ladies doing?” She joins me at the island and glances at my phone. “You are already sucked in, aren’t you? A good night will do that to you.”

She’s careful about her words with Sherrie in the room, but her wink says everything.

“Do you mind watching her for an hour while I run an errand. All you have to do is preheat the oven and put in the lasagna for about forty-five minutes.”

Okay, so I want to go talk to Brodie in person. Maybe I shouldn’t waste away a good opportunity. Take my life back.

She nods, and I pick up my keys and head out the door. Why am I going over there?

When I pull in his driveway, his truck is outside and he isn’t expecting me. So when I walk up to the door and knock, I don’t expect him to answer.

It takes a couple of minutes, and he opens the door in just a towel.

“Do you normally answer the door like this?” I say, crossing my arms.

“I saw you through the peephole. Are you complaining?”

I push passed him, and he shuts the door.

“So, one of your dates came into my salon today. Does the name Denise ring a bell?” My back is turned to him.

“Yeah, I actually went out with her the night before I met you. Why?”

“She seems to think you are an ass and women should stay away from you.”

He comes up behind me and wraps his arms around me, and then whispers in my ear. “And what do you think?”
