I hold my breath.

“Harper Love?” she asks.

“Yes,” I say.

“Come with me,” she says.

“Um, why?” I ask.

She cocks an eyebrow and the men around her tense. I hear a few murmurs of surprise.

“I’m sorry, but last time someone took me somewhere I ended up here. Away from my home and everything I’ve ever known.”

“Fair enough,” she says. “We need to talk. Just talk. You can trust my word.”

“I don’t even know who you are,” I say.

“Your grace,” Corbin says, “Harper is still new here.”

I glance over at him.

“Harper, that’s Lucinda Drake. Ruler of the kingdom of Glass. She’s not going to hurt you,” he says to me.

I wince. “Thanks. And sorry.”

I learned enough history about the Underworld to know the basics about the six kingdoms. And I know enough to know that I possibly insulted a queen.

“Miss Love,” one of the dark haired males says with a sweeping gesture. Up this close, I can see his handsome face and sharp features. He’s got that sexy-scary thing going on. Probably all fae do.

I glance at Corbin one last time before falling in line with the group. I’m between the two dark haired fae males. I notice they keep me surrounded and not close enough to the woman to be able to touch her.

I can feel the eyes of my classmates on me as I’m guided out of the cafeteria. Go figure they arrived before I even got to eat dinner. Good thing Sadie and I have a good stash of junk food in our room.

I suppose it’s not the weirdest thing that’s happened to me lately. The whole being visited by royalty thing. Considering I was kidnapped and brought here by the King of Keys. And the fact that he was haunting my dreams, in the worst possible way. I guess I should have expected something like this to happen.

Of course I didn’t, though. Apparently, I need to start thinking bigger. I’ve been so focused on waiting for the threat from my bedroom to materialize that I haven’t thought about the long game.

I tense.

This can’t be about the threat in my room, right? That would be cheating. Not cool to get a queen to do it for you.

I bump into scary hot fae dude in front of me. “Sorry.”

He turns to look at me and I can almost feel the disgust. As if me accidentally touching him made him dirty or something. Not my fault he stopped walking so quickly.

Or maybe it was. I was so wrapped up in my own head I didn’t realize we’d stopped.

Or that we were in my hallway.

Right in front of Liam’s room.

Seriously?

Someone knocks on the door and it swings open too quickly. He knew they were coming.

I’m glaring at him when he turns his gaze on me. I soften my expression almost immediately when I see how pale he is. He looks shaken. And I swear I can feel the tension coming from him.

That’s not right. Liam is always so collected. This has him nervous. Knots form in my stomach. Until that moment, I wasn’t afraid. But if Liam is scared, I’m really screwed. He has his dad to protect him. I’ve got nothing.
