“I did it because it’s true,” he says. “But don’t worry, she’s good for her word. She won’t let it out. You can go back to ignoring me again.”
“I don’t want to ignore you but I don’t know what any of this means for you or me or…”
“Professor Cardale? Corbin? Damon, even?” He smirks.
My eyes widen and my cheeks heat. Should I be thinking about other males if Liam and I have this special bond? It must not be real. It can’t be.
“I appreciate what you did for me, but I think you made a mistake,” I say.
He closes the distance between us. “No mistake. You’re a full angel, aren’t you?”
I nod.
“That’s why my father was so interested in you,” he says. “Your power if you ever tap into it fully will make you just as powerful as any of the high demons.”
“It’s dangerous,” I say.
“Only if it’s done incorrectly,” he says. “Besides, what’s the fun of life without a little danger?”
“Sure, but not kill other people danger,” I say.
“We’ll figure it out,” he says.
“We?” How did the two of us get here so quickly? How was I suddenly in a relationship?
“Don’t worry,” he says. “I won’t get in the way of your other boyfriends.”
“What is it with this place?” I ask. Sometimes you want the guy to fight a little bit for you. Instead, I’m with the guys that sort of want to be with me and don’t care if I shack up with someone else.
“I gotta go,” I say. “Your aunt isn’t going to kill me in my sleep or anything is she?”
“No,” he says. “You’re safe.”
I don’t feel especially safe. But I suppose I haven’t since I arrived here. I walk toward the door then stop and turn back to him. “What are you going to do about your dad?”
It hit me suddenly, that Liam just claimed me. Which I’m sure is going to piss off his dad.
“I don’t know yet,” he says.
Well, at least he’s honest. “I’m still going to try to win that pass.”
“I know,” he says. “I’m going to have to make a play for it too, for now.”
“Does that mean you’re going to let me win?” I ask.
He shrugs. “Guess we’ll see.”
I can’t take anymore tonight. I turn and leave his room without a goodbye.
