Harper

I can’t believe we’re doing this.

We’re purposefully heading to the dungeons to summon a monster. I’m insane. I’ve completely lost it.

The worst part is that I’ve managed to drag my friends into this mess.

Sadie and Liam are waiting for us in the dungeon classroom. I glance around for Adrian even though I know he won’t be here. If he got busted, it would be so much worse for him than for us.

“Great, you bought snacks for the monster,” Liam says, lifting his chin toward Damon and Corbin on either side of me.

I frown.

“So glad you think I’m a snack, Liam, but you’re not really my type,” Damon says.

“Anyone who doesn’t want to help can leave,” I say.

“I’m here for you, not them,” Liam says.

“You’re going to have to get along,” I say. “I need you all.”

“Well, you’re stuck with me, darling,” Liam says.

I glare at him. “You’re being a dick. And just because we have a mating bond doesn’t mean I’m stuck with you.”

Even as I say the words, my stomach twists in discomfort. I know I need him. As much as I might fight it, Liam and I have a bond that I can’t shake. But so do me and Corbin. I can’t have Liam acting like this.

“You’re not the only one,” Corbin says.

“Don’t tell me you added a new boyfriend?” Liam says.

“Mate,” I correct. “Yes. Play nice. He’s not going anywhere.”

“Shit,” Damon says. “You two have a mating bond?”

“Surprise,” I say.

“Wait, and Liam?” Damon asks.

“And the professor,” Liam says.

“Harper, you better not have sex with anyone else,” Sadie says. “Seriously, girl, you’re building yourself a harem. I don’t think you can handle any more.”

“Trust me, I’m not rushing into sex with anyone else,” I say.

“I’m feeling very left out,” Damon says. “Please tell me Sadie didn’t get any either.”

“We’re just friends,” Sadie says quickly.

I stifle a laugh. I shouldn’t find it amusing, but the other option is to think about it and really let it sink in that I went from zero men in my life to three mates. It’s a lot.

“Shouldn’t we get this over with?” Liam asks. “I skipped breakfast and I’d rather not drag it out past lunch.”

“You can go,” Damon says.

“No,” I say quickly, surprising myself. “I need his help. I need all of you. I don’t even know how to summon a monster.”
