“Are you sure?” I ask the nurse.

“I’m sure,” she says. “He has requested no visitors.”

I frown. How could Liam not want to see me? Then again, I’m the reason he’s there in the first place. He’s been in there for three days and I have yet to see him.

I nod to the nurse. “Thanks.”

At least she told me he was stable. That’s something, I suppose. Slowly, I walk back toward my room. I’m watching my feet so by the time I notice movement ahead of me, it’s too late.

I’m shoved against the wall, my shoulder slamming into the drywall. “Ow! What the?”

My path is blocked by Tasha and Em. They’ve pinned me against the wall and both girls are sneering at me. I am not in the mood for either of them today. “Move.”

“You are dangerous,” Em says. “Everything you touch falls apart. When you were playing with the Wood twins, we didn’t mind. Who cares if there’s two less cocky demons in the world? But this time you went too far.”

“What the fuck are you talking about?” I honestly don’t know what I did to piss them off this time. I didn’t even have any classes with either of them today.

“Thanks to you, Liam nearly died,” Tasha says.

I groan. Of course this has to do with Tasha’s obsession with Liam. “When are you going to realize he’s not into you, Tasha?”

She slaps me across the face and I wince but grit through the sting. I won’t give her the satisfaction of knowing that it hurt like hell.

“I told you to stay away from him,” she says. “You didn’t listen.”

“How sad you are,” I say. “Hung up on a guy who doesn’t want you. You beat the shit out of me, then what?”

“Oh, I’m not going to beat the shit out of you,” she says. “I’m going to ruin that pretty face of yours.”

I lift a brow. This girl is crazy enough to act on whatever her insane plan is. Before I can think through how smart my plan is, I lift my foot and kick her in the crotch.

I admit, it’s not a classy move. But it surprises her and from the cry she lets out, it hurt. I shove her while she’s down and push my way through them.

Someone grabs hold of my hair and tugs, forcing me back. “Are you kidding me? Hair pulling?”

I turn, pulling my arm back at the same time. Then I land a punch right in Em’s face. She screams and lets go of my hair. Her hands go to her face and she covers her bleeding nose. Tasha’s fingers are on fire.

Legit. On fire.

Fuck.

I run.

A ball of fire roars past my head and I just dodge it. I’m almost to my room. I should get out my key and go into my own room but I don’t have time to check for a hex.

Another ball of fire. This one hits my shoulder and I scream. Quickly, I pull off my shirt popping the buttons as I strip it off.

I’m in front of Adrian’s door, pounding like my life depends on it. Which it might.

I’m not proud of it, but I need help.

He opens the door and I hear another door close behind me. Tasha and Em must have retreated into their room.

I’m panting and my hair is sticking to my sweaty forehead. And I’m not wearing a shirt. It’s not one of my finer moments.
