I turn and find Noah waiting for me, so I walk right into his arms.

“What’s that about?” He looks over my head at where my sister and her douchebag boyfriend are departing.

“Derek has to go to work. Too bad.”

“Definitely not going to be missed. What does Chevelle see in that guy? He can’t even do polite conversation.” Noah puts his fingers under my chin and tilts my head up, then kisses me chastely.

“I’m not sure,” I say. “Come on, we have guests.”

We go inside where everyone is clinking their glasses and shouting, “Kiss, kiss, kiss.”

Noah dips me and kisses me again, not that I’m complaining. If I had my way, we’d be on our mysterious honeymoon already.

The door opens from the outside and I spot Chevelle sliding in and heading straight to the bathroom. But Cam is standing right at the entry to the hallway that leads to the restrooms. I can’t take my eyes off of what’s going on behind everyone’s backs.

Cam inches close to Chevelle, touches her eyes, and his face turns to stone. He asks her something, and she shakes her head. Their conversation is definitely heated. Cam walks past her and out the door. Chevelle follows.

What the hell?

“Excuse me,” I say and weave through the tables, thanking people quickly as they give their congratulations again. I reach Chevelle right before she’s about to go through the inn door. “Chevelle?”

I reach for her arm, and she stops but keeps her face tipped down away from me. I take her chin in my finger and thumb and turn her toward me. My stomach drops. Her eye is swollen and red and definitely on its way to becoming a black eye.

Now I understand completely why Cameron had such a murderous expression. The question is—what is he going to do about it?
