Lavinia’s cheeks burned, and she turned away.

“No, no, please, don’t break the pose. I want to see your face.”

Lavinia studied his face beneath her eyelashes. “How long does it take you to finish a portrait?”

“Hours. But this isn’t a portrait, just a simple sketch. I shall be done in a few minutes. Later, when I am back at home, I can put it onto the canvas and paint it.”

“Please, do not sell it,” she said quietly. Her heart slammed violently into her chest at the thought.

Sebastian’s pencil froze, and he looked up. “I would never let anyone see you like this. Your beauty is just for me.”

Lavinia chuckled and looked down, tensing from the inside.

“I’d say this is progress. You are not looking away. The next step is accepting the compliment,” he said with a grin.
