There’s a reason for me spraying myself with such strong scents though. I’m pregnant and I’m determined to hide it from Koda so that I can surprise him.
When I was pregnant with Mia, he knew before I did that we were expecting and I hated it. I want to be the one to tell him. I want to see his reaction when he learns the news.
Koda is such a great dad to Mia and I know that he’ll be happy that we’re expanding our family. When I told him that I wanted ten kids, he didn’t even blink. He just agreed. He would do anything to make me happy but I know that he wants a big family too, something to erase how lonely he felt when he was a kid.
We’ve been trying to get pregnant since the last full moon and I’m relieved that it happened so fast. What I’m less excited about is how overprotective Koda is about to get with me. When I was pregnant with Mia, he barely let me walk anywhere and I could forget about lifting or carrying anything.
I think it’s sweet that he wants to take care of me and besides, it was a fun game trying to outsmart him. I only managed to do it a handful of times but each ended with him catching me and carrying me back to our bedroom where he would do such wicked things to my body that I was too exhausted to move for the rest of the day.
I know that Koda will be excited about the news. We just found out that Malia and Ryker are expecting too and I’m excited to be pregnant this time with one of my closest friends.
I'm going to tell Koda tonight after he gets back from the run, which should be any minute now.
I hurry into the bathroom, stripping off my clothes and tugging on my pajamas before I sneak into our closet to grab the present that I wrapped this afternoon.
I’m just carrying it over to the bed when I hear Koda’s footsteps on the stairs and I pick up my pace. I’m just sliding under the covers when he opens the door and strides in.
“There you are,” he says, coming right toward me.
He pauses when he sees the present and raises an eyebrow.
“What’s this?” He asks and I toss the gift to him.
The perfume has faded and I can't have him getting too close to me. Not when I'm so close to pulling this off.
“A little something for you,” I say with a bright smile.
He chuckles, eyeing me suspiciously before he tugs on the wrapping paper. The little onesie falls into his hands and he grins as soon as he sees it.
“I knew it!” He shouts and I glare at him.
“No, you didn’t. I’ve been so careful!”
“Yeah, but that’s how I figured it out. No one needs to wear that much perfume and you kept trying to put distance between us.”
“I wanted to surprise you,” I grumble and he grins.
“You surprised the hell out of me when we met. I’m still not over it,” he says as he makes his way around the bed and pulls me into his arms.
“That’s true. That was probably the biggest surprise ever. You’ll never be able to top it.”
“Never,” he agrees and I know that he’s grinning into my hair but I don’t care.
Koda smiles all of the time now. He’s always teasing me and in a good mood and his friends say that that’s because of me. He was so lonely and sad before I came along.
Sometimes I wonder what he would be like if I hadn’t forgiven him or become his mate, but I hate thinking about him being sad or miserable so I try not to.
It's crazy that someone could do such a one-eighty overnight but as soon as he bit and marked me, he really was the perfect mate.
He's supported me through my pregnancy, through my volunteering at the library and setting up my charities. We run one for orphaned and abused kids and another for women. Koda loves to help me out with it and I'm glad that he gets to help kids who went through what he did when he was younger.
I sigh as I lean into him more and he tightens his arms around me.
“Are you happy?” I ask and squeezes me.
“More than I thought was possible.”
“Me too,” I whisper back.
It’s another full moon tonight and I can feel the mating heat overcoming both of us. My panties start to grow damp and when Koda growls, I know that he can smell my desire.
“Did you miss me, mate?” Koda whispers in my ear and I shiver in his arms at his deep tone.
“So much,” I whisper back and I know without looking that he’s giving me a wolfish grin.
“Let me see just how much you did,” he says as he pushes me onto my back in the center of the bed.
I grin as he tugs down my panties and kneels at the side of the bed. I want to say something sassy about him being on his knees but before I can, my mind blanks as he lowers his mouth to my skin.
Man, I’m one lucky Queen.
