“Fuck.”

The body rolled out of bed, flipping on the bedside lamp. I shielded my eyes as they attempted to adjust to the bright invasion. Once I could see, I dropped my hand and found Slade returning to the room, the phone in the crook of his neck. He had one leg in his jeans, the other halfway in when he stopped. I wasn’t afraid to admit I was more interested in the appendage between his legs anyway.

Licking my lips, I felt Simon pull me closer as he nestled into my neck.

“Whatcha looking at, Lenn?”

“Breakfast?”

Simon chuckled, licking my neck. “I like how you think. You both look good enough to eat.”

I couldn’t help the small moan that slipped as I felt his hand skirt around my body, his hardening erection digging into my backside. However, it didn’t get to go much further as Slade began to cuss, yanking the rest of his jeans up and drawing our attention. Sitting up, I watched him, his face a mask of fury, and my heart began to race.

“I’m on my way.”

He pulled the phone away from his ear, dropping his head as he took large inhales. Simon pushed me, motioning for me to go to him. Climbing out of bed, I grabbed a shirt off the floor and tip-toed to him.

“Tatzilla?”

He looked up at the name, a small smile on his lips. I wrapped my arms around him, still unsure if he wanted it but decided he needed it. A look of utter heartbreak was on his face, and I wanted to give him comfort. His arms wrapped around me, pulling me close to his chest, and I relaxed. Until I thought about what would make him look that way.

Pulling back, I gasped, ”Your brother?”

Slade looked down at me, confused. “He’s in the living room.”

I sagged in relief, and he realized what I’d thought. “No one’s hurt. That was your father, though.”

“My dad?”

At this point, Simon had climbed out of bed and joined us in our little huddle. “Why’s Eddy calling this early?” he yawned. His words were muffled as well as he pulled on a shirt. Slade blew out a breath, and I wanted to shake him to tell me already.

“It’s the shop.” His eyes moved to me and then back to Simon. “There’s been a fire.”

“What? How? Is everyone okay?”

The questions rushed out of me, Simon’s almost echoing. Our shouts roused Zane, and he stumbled into the room, rubbing his eyes. “Everyone dressed?”

“Yeah, you can look. Sorry, we woke you.”

“It’s fine. What’s going on?” He sleepily mumbled. I grabbed his hand, pulling him to our huddle. He belonged too.

“That’s what we’re trying to find out. There was a fire at the shop.”

He instantly looked to his brother, concern weighing heavily on his brow. “Shit, man.”

“Yeah, I don’t know anything yet. Eddy called to let me know. I’m going to head there now. I’m sorry, Peach, but I’ll have to do your tattoo another time.”

“Of course. I’ll come with you.”

“No, stay. It’s going to be a mess of things, and you have work that you’ve already had to reschedule. I’ll be back tonight.”

“Do you want me to go with you?” Simon asked. Slade thought about it, looking between the two of us, and I realized he didn’t want it to seem like he wanted Simon to go when he’d told me no. I understood it wasn’t about that though, so I saved him from having to worry.

“You should go. Is the salon okay?” I asked

“I don’t know. Your dad didn’t say.”

“I didn’t even think of the salon. Shit.”
