“Then you should definitely go. Grab some clothes while you’re there, or whatever, if you guys plan to stay around longer.”

“Shit, the rental. We need to clean and do all the close-down tasks.”

“I can handle it. Just leave the keys,” Zane offered. I squeezed his hand, happy he was here too. I hadn’t had any of them in my life in the past few months, just psycho, and I realized how much I missed having people who cared about me. With psycho's identity still being unknown, it made me feel safer to have one of them with me.

“I can help, too. My first appointment isn’t until noon.”

“Perfect.” He smiled and I suddenly found myself looking forward to cleaning if it meant I got some alone time.

“Thanks, that’s… just thanks,” said Slade. He pulled his brother into his arms, hugging him hard. He held on for a while, and it felt like the final piece of healing their relationship—being there for one another and leaving all the past mistakes behind them. Simon pulled me to him, and I wrapped my arms around his middle, laying my head on his chest, squeezing him.

“Be safe, Lenn. I can’t lose you.”

I looked up, the seriousness of his words surprising me. “I’m right here, Si. I’ll be here when you get back tonight. We can order in and just chill. All of us.”

“Sounds like the perfect evening.”

He kissed my head, pulling me close again. A warm body covered my back, and for a second, I relished the feeling of being entirely surrounded by their safety. Letting go of Si, I turned and hugged my former bossnemy. He lifted me, his hands going to my lower half. Slade’s eyes bugged out for a second when they touched bare skin.

“Shit, I forgot you were practically naked.” He seared me with a kiss full of heat, leaving me breathless. Wrapping my legs around him, I deepened the kiss, our breathing becoming ragged as we lost ourselves in one another.

“Not that I don’t love a show from you two, but Eddy called again.”

My dad’s name had me pulling back, but Slade didn’t seem to care. He kept me lifted, his eyes on me. “Can I have a moment with Peach?”

He asked the other two, his eyes never leaving mine. I couldn’t drop his either, too enamored with what I saw in them. The sound of the door closing was our only clue they’d honored his wishes.

“I really wish I had time to enjoy the morning after with you, Peach. I’d planned to wake you up with me between your legs and then fuck you in the shower with Simon.” My breath hitched, and I found myself unconsciously rubbing against his chest. He groaned but didn’t put me down.

“The only thing making me leave is the fire and what your dad told me.”

His seriousness had my arousal decreasing, and I grasped his face, attempting to smooth out the worry lines. “What did he say?”

“He’s not certain, but he expects arson. There was a broken window and a message, but he wouldn’t tell me what it said over the phone.”

“You think it’s,” my throat dried, the realization of what he meant hitting me. It had been funny to joke about it yesterday, easier for me to deal with. But facing the reality of the situation made me want to hide.

“Yes, it’s the fucker who’s been pretending to be my brother. He doesn’t deserve to keep using his name. Promise me you’ll stay with Thane until we’re back. If he has to work, go and stay with your friend. Just don’t be alone, Peach.Promise me.”

“I promise.”

His hands gripped my thighs, flexing as he tried to hold in his emotions. He kissed me softly at my words, dropping his head to my forehead. “I love you, Peach.”

Smiling, I smoothed my hands over his face once more before kissing his nose. “I love you, Tatzilla.”

He smiled, some of his fear receding as he placed me back on the ground. “Be prepared to be wooed tomorrow morning. I get a do-over. I can’t have you thinking I ghost or scram each time we make love, Lennox.”

“Love, huh?”

He arched an eyebrow, stopping with his hand on the doorknob. “Yes, Peach.Love. Even the first time. Sex that hot?” he smirked. “Definitely because I hated how much I loved you. Don’t forget to check your email.” He winked, walking out of the room.

Part of me wanted to rush to my phone and read it right then, but I exercised some self-control and followed him out into the other room. Zane was making coffee, filling some to-go mugs for the guys, and Simon popped some Pop Tarts into the toaster. He had them standing up, and I rolled my eyes as I walked over, grabbing the toaster tongs he always refused to use to change them to horizontal. We’d had this debate almost every morning when we lived together.

“Barbarian!”

Simon chuckled, used to our dispute on the proper way to put Pop Tarts in the toaster. I honestly think he did it the wrong way to get a rise out of me now. Slade walked in fully dressed a few minutes later, and I looked down at myself, finding I still wore his shirt. Guess he found something after all. He watched me curiously as I pulled out the Pop Tarts and handed them to him. He looked at me with an incredulous look as I held out the toasty treats.

“What the hell are those?”
