“Southern for ‘you’re dumb’ or ‘you’re cute, but you ain’t got a clue’.”

“At least you think I’m cute,” he pouted.

Laughing, we eventually got up, cleaned, and put on some clothes before all getting back in the bed; Thane included and watched, you guessed it, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. After months of griping about it, Slade had caved, and admitted he ‘sorta’ liked it.

And that was how we brought in the new year, snuggled under blankets and watching TV. It was the best New Year's of my life, even if Slade was snoring logs in my ear.

At one time, our love story had been riddled with lies, smudging the lines of our inked confessions. We’d all fallen into the trap of believing the lies, too scared to step out into the light to find the truth. Despite the attempts to break us apart by sending chaos into our lives, we’d bonded together stronger, shedding the weight of the past. We’d learned to trust, to have faith in one another, and to love without fail.

None of us were perfect. Far from it.

Thane struggled to believe he was good enough. Slade struggled to share, afraid he’d lose the things he cared about. Lennox struggled to believe in herself, and the power she had on her own. And well, I struggled to believe in ‘the more’ life had to offer, afraid I didn’t deserve it. Together we found a way to soothe the hurts and broken edges, to bend and weld them until we all fit together. Our jagged edges transformed into gold, creating something more beautiful than we ever imagined. We’d irrevocably tattooed our love on one another’s hearts, and we weren't ever letting go.
