“Oh baby, Stone and Tye will soon realize they picked the wrong person to mess with.”

It was time for Stone to think he had won.

I picked up my cell and dialed Stone's number, letting my gaze capture both Everleigh's and Del's, urging them to trust me and remain as quiet as possible.

“Stone.” I let the bitter word fall gently from my mouth, pretending it was the most natural thing in the world. “I want to meet…”

“Why? What could you possibly want to talk tomeabout?” he snapped back down the line gruffly.

I bit my tongue as Everleigh gave me a nod and smile for encouragement. “You were right, I could never be anything without you. I want to take you up on your offer…” I said before I paused and listened to his heavy breathing down the line.

“When?”

“Tonight, less chance of being disturbed,” I replied, raising my brows together at the pair who just nodded in agreement. “What about those abandoned warehouses, on the back of Port of New York? Maybe Red Hook?”

“Yeah, that works, third warehouse along on the left, after the intersection,” he replied. “Dawson…”

“Yep.”

“8pm. I'm glad you're finally seeing sense… but don't…”

“I won’t be late… see you later.”

I placed the cell down and breathed a huge sigh of relief as Everleigh came over and wrapped her arms around me, making herself comfortable.

“I'll let myself out then, shall I?” Del chuckled.

I nodded as Del just waltzed out the door without a care in the world.

“Bed, now Everleigh. If it wasn’t for those ribs still healing, I’d have you bent over that sofa, but baby, we’ll just have to await that pleasure. Now, let’s kill time in bed before we take down that fucker.”

I made sure that Everleigh knew who she belonged to, the little tease. I ensured she was fucked good and hard and would be feeling me for the rest of the evening. I was in control and boy, did she love it.

I was going to go in first, with Del’s eyes kept on my girl before they both appeared by my side to show a united front. I warned Del to guard her with his life or else and he laughed it away. One look from me though silenced him immediately as Everleigh’s touch brought the calmness back.

“Sure, man, absolutely. Goes without saying, we’ve got this, don’t stress,” Del replied, admitting his surrender even though I knew he’d honestly meant nothing by it deep down.

“Sorry Del, I know you’ve got her. I’m just on edge, man. All my life, Stone has been trying to control me and now it’s payback. I’ve only just got her back and I can’t lose her.” I sighed before I kissed Everleigh’s lips softly and squeezed her hand twice.

One man-hug later with Del and I walked away, leaving them hidden around the side as I walked up to the run-down area full of gathered trash on the streets and a musky stench in the air. I leant my back against the metal pulled down entrance and watched as a pair of headlights approached. I heard the grumble of a sports car in the distance, the unmistakable sound of the Bugatti. Seconds later, it came into view. Stone skidded to a stop with the stupid flare he loved to show off. Stone kept the engine running so the headlights lit up the area before he slowly disembarked from the car. He leaned his frame against the door of his car with his eyes fixed on me.

“You came…” Stone said, casting his eyes quickly to the right on the opposite side of the warehouses.

“I said I would, didn't I?”

“That's true… but then we are talking about a sudden change of heart,” he replied, cocking his head to the side.

“You’re right…. It’s a total change of heart. My heart is definitely full right now, Stone.” As I said that, both Del and Everleigh walked out of the shadows and stood either side of me.

Stone clearly didn’t expect to see them. I could see that he probably thought Everleigh would’ve run fast and far away after the attack on her, but not my girl.

“I would have given up everything for another chance with Everleigh,” I confidently stated as I curled my arm around my woman’s waist, tucking her into my side. “Do you hear me, Stone. Everything, absolutely fucking everything, I’d have given my damn life for her. But it seems you didn’t keep to our deal; you remember the deal, right? I leave Everleigh and New York and you leave her the fuck alone. Clearly you didn’t abide by your own deal.” I growled as I gently took her broken wrist and showed the red cast she wore whilst it healed.

“Clever boy, took you long enough.” He sneered. “I guess that he helped you then,” he said, pointing at Del and chuckling. “You were never any good at noticing issues.”
