“I know,” Aiden replies, as he matches Jake's gaze. “We met already, Liam and Dylan, too. We saw her at The Cannon’s New Year event.”

Jake looked at Aiden’s jaw as it ticks. “So, why the hell didn’t you mention you’d met my sister?” He looks between us, trying to get to the bottom of his suspicions but focuses his eyes on his friend.

“I said we’d met, bro. I didn’t get her life story, meaning... I didn’t know she was your sister.” Aiden tries to deflect the attention away casually whilst my gut twists.

Jake looks at me now. “You’ve been here this long and didn’t come find me or shoot me a text to say I’m here, Blaire?” Jake questions me, confused by my actions.

“Jake…” The hurt in his eyes radiates at me, and makes the guilt inside me feel unbearable. “I just wanted to get settled, surely you can understand that?” I reply solemnly.

“She was meant to come straight to me,” Jake says into the air as he attempts to make his point to Aiden. He gulps down hard and my eyes catch a glance at his Adam’s apple. I hope Jake didn’t notice the action.

“Simon was just showing her around,” Aiden interrupts.

“Ican handle myself…” I say. “I’m not a child, Jake. I arrived tired and stressed and Pete kindly demanded I attend the party. Then, I met so many people, some I can see becoming good friends. Likeyourightly said, this is now my home. I'm off home. Nice to see you again, Aiden. Don't let my prick of a brother give you shit for being so welcoming!” I shout, and turn my back on the pair of them as I lock my knees to stop them from giving way beneath me.

I storm off, with shouts from Jake that echo from behind to come back, but all I do is ignore his requests. Jake doesn't stop me reaching the car and when I get inside, I catch a quick glance back at the door and notice Jake long gone, but Aiden stood with his arms crossed as he watches me. I start the engine and get lost completely in thought as I wonder what the fuck I have done.

The first person I turn to and it's my brother's best friend. Shit.

AIDEN

Five days of being on shift and I try to get every detail about Blaire from Jake without seeming like a stalker and raising any suspicions isn't an easy task. I may have made my questions focus on Jake, but Liam is inquisitive. Blaire and I were under his nose New Year's Day, the chemistry undeniable between us as we laugh and joke. I know he can smell gossip as it travels a mile away but being able to placate him without causing a scene won't be easy.

“Why all the questions about Blaire?” Liam asks when he manages to corner me alone in front of the engine after a practice call-out.

“Just being friendly,” I reply as I open the door and place my hat on the chair, before I remove the thick heavy uniform that covers my clean clothes. “Why wouldn't I?”

“Just like you did New Year, yeah?” Liam utters with a smirk, as he tucks his hat under his arm and digs his elbow into my side with the other. “I'm sure you gave her a very warm welcome, Aide… no one saw you for a few days after.”

“Liam,” I growl. “Leave it, yeah.”

“Okay… I get it.” He looks around to make sure Jake is not around. “Aide, you’re tempted by Jake's little sister. My lips are sealed.”

“I mean it… just… stop,” I command before Liam’s hand slaps my shoulder and squeezes down hard while I grind my teeth together.

“Secret’s safe with me. I'll talk to Dylan, too.” He walks off before he starts to whistle to himself.

Fuck, was I really tempted by her? Why her of all people? It's been a few days and all I want is her.My heart gallops an extra beat, my breaths boom faster and all I want to do is touch her like I did for those days cooped up in the apartment.

Five fucking days I have woke and fucked my hand in the shower as I think of her curves and body, the way her tight pussy squeezes my rock-hard cock while she screams out my name. With my full name on her lips, not even my nickname when her body succumbs to the passion, I ignite from her. The thought makes my balls pull up tight and hot strings of semen plaster over the tiles. My head throws back in euphoria before I start the day here again and dream about her. Today, though, enough is enough. I need to see her, talk to her, and ask the question that is bothering me the most.

Did she know that her brother and I were best friends? I mean, I’d heard her name mentioned the odd time. Jake never let me know she was moving here though, but if she did, that would be different. It’s a small town. If she did know, then I don't know how I would feel.

Why did I leave her my number and not get hers? Idiot. I look around and stand on the corner of Oak Street staring down the length of it. I know I shouldn’t be here, but I need to see her. The magnetic pull overwhelms me. I know it's my only option to see her though, since our paths haven't met since the beginning of the week and my mind is currently driving me mad with the need to talk, but more importantly, taste her.

It's as if a sign from above is trying to talk to me when Blaire steps out of the shop a few doors away and turns in the direction of home. I set off on autopilot towards her and reach my arms around her waist to surprise her. I’m greeted with the bag of shopping being thrown at my head and her hands start to flap at my face.

“Get off me, get off me,” she screams. My eyes widen in shock as I wince and reach for the side of my head. I notice the cans scatter across the floor around us before she starts to move away.

“Blaire, wait,” I say, reaching out for her. “Please…” She flits her panicked eyes up at me, her face wet with tears. Her breathing is heavy as though a panic attack is imminent. I take her face in my hands and hold onto her. “Sshhh it’s okay. Take deep slow breaths. It’s okay, it’s me baby, I got you.”

“Aiden… oh Aiden,” she whispers. “I'm… I'm so sorry.” She shivers, rubbing her arms along her scars before she reaches forward and touches my head. The heat of her hand burns and the pain radiates against my skin. “I… I thought.” I lick my lips and just watch her. “Come on, let me get you back home and clean that face up.”

I nod and grasp her hand and reach down to pick up all the cans scattered across the floor, but my head feels like a dead weight. Blaire stops me in my tracks with a look and begins to pick them up herself off the ground.
