When he let me go, Remington’s hand landed on my ass with a hard smack. “Let’s go to class, little devil,” he said, looking far happier than he had on the walk over. “I wouldn’t want to contribute to your path to failure in physics.”

“And he’s back, ladies and gentlemen,” I drawled, unable to hold back the smile shining from my fucking face. He grabbed my hand and led me back towards the building, and yesterday’s horror fest seemed just a little bit farther away.

Fuck. I was falling for Remington Taylor.

Classes seemed to drag on forever that day, even with Remington shadowing me throughout all of them. I breathed a sigh of relief when my final class ended for the day and I could finally go back to the Sphinx and watch some trash television or something.

As soon as we got into the hallway, I knew something was wrong. The hallway was filled with people, but it was quiet. Everyone was whispering softly to each other, and as soon as I came into view, every fucking eye was on me.

“What the fuck is happening now?” questioned Remington exasperatedly.

A girl that looked vaguely familiar came rushing up to us.

“I’m so sorry, Remington,” she said with real fucking tears in her eyes as she tried to grab his hand.

Ah, now I remembered where I knew her from. She’d been one of the groupies at Paxton’s fight. Another girl desperate to ride Remington’s dick.

Remington looked at me confused as he pulled his hand away from her and put it around me. “Um, what exactly are you sorry about?”

Her hand flew to her mouth. “Oh my gosh, you don’t know!”

I rolled my eyes, done with the show. “Can you please get on with it, or get out of the fucking way.”

Hate flashed in her eyes before she quickly shuttered it. “Remington, they just found your dad’s body,” she said sympathetically.

I froze, and Remington and I both gazed wide-eyed at each other, twin looks of surprise on our faces. How the crap…

“Thanks for that, Bailey,” he said, quickly leading me around her and towards the exit.

“My name’s Tabitha,” she yelled behind us, but neither of us bothered to glance back.

“I thought Cain would’ve taken care of the body himself,” I whispered through gritted teeth when we were almost to the door.

“He did,” growled Remington. “Cain even buried it himself.”

Remington stepped out the door first, and I followed. He almost knocked me to the ground when he came to a screeching halt and I ran right into him. I looked around him to see what the holdup was, and my insides froze when I saw that there were a hundred people dressed in white standing in front of the building, all of them completely still.

“There she is!” one of them cried, and they began to run towards the door like the maniacs they fucking were.

“Delilah!” they called to me.

“Demon’s Daughter!”

“We pledge our lives to you!”

“We live to serve you!”

“Fuck,” I hissed as my pulse began to race. I grabbed Remington’s shirt and pulled him back inside, slamming the door shut before they had reached the steps. I just hoped that they had enough sense not to try and come into the school buildings.

Although they worshiped a serial killer called The Demon…how much sense could they have?

I belatedly realized that Remington had pulled me behind him as we both stared at the door, ready for it to burst open and a herd of crazy people to start running at us.

But the door remained closed. I could hear people talking behind us, but they definitely didn’t matter compared to the demon-worshipping horde right outside these doors.

“Friends of yours?” Remington murmured, his shoulders relaxing a bit.
