“If we have to,” I groaned and followed him out of the dining room and back to my bedroom, where I grabbed my bag from the chair it had been lying on. As soon as I picked it up, a folded piece of paper dropped to the floor. I frowned as I bent over to pick it up before unfolding it.

I See You.

The letters had been cut out from newspapers and then glued onto the page.

“What’s that?” Remington asked.

“Just some notes I took,” I said quickly, not exactly sure why I was lying.

Or maybe I did know why. I still didn’t know if they were the ones behind the camera in my room.

This could just be an extension of that.

After you’d been publicly humiliated by men you thought you were becoming close to…it took a while to trust again.

If that was ever even possible.

We walked to class, everyone giving us a wide berth. I examined Remington out of the corner of my eye. He did look less…welcoming than usual. His hands were in his pockets and his eyes were glued to the ground, and he wasn’t doing that annoying whistling thing he did all the time when he was following me around campus.

One guy was daring enough to say hello to him as we passed, and honestly, I was surprised that the guy didn’t drop dead from the look Remington gave him in return.

We’d almost gotten to the building where my physics class was located when Remington suddenly grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side of the building where no one else was.

“Remington?” I asked carefully, not able to read the wild look in his eyes.

“I’m sorry,” he said in a low, gruff voice shot with something that sounded almost like...regret? “I’m so fucking sorry. It was my fault that yesterday happened. I should have killed him when you said to. I—fucked up.”

I bit my lip, feeling a bit uncomfortable at his apology.

And then it got even worse.

Remington Taylor. The senator’s son and one of the “kings” of this college--and probably the world in the future—got down on his knees.

Right where he belonged.

“You said I would get on my knees, and I didn’t believe you. But here I am, little devil, begging you to forgive me,” he said solemnly. “I’m completely obsessed with you, and I’m never going to hurt you again.”

Normally, if Remington Taylor said something so corny, I would assume he was mocking me. But there was nothing in his eyes to tell me he didn’t mean every word coming out of his mouth.

One down, three to go.

The words flashed in my mind, and honestly, it was all I could do to keep the triumph off my face. I’d do that privately, because I was a fucking grownup and not petty like that.

Or at least that’s what my story was today.

I pretended to think about it for a long time while he looked miserable kneeling down on the cold, muddy grass we were on.

Crouching down so that our faces were even, I took his chin in my hand. “I forgive you, Remington. But if you ever hurt me again, I’m probably going to kill you,” I said lightly.

His eyes lit up, fire racing through them.

“Holy fuck, I’m in love,” he breathed, and I rolled my eyes as I straightened up, pretending to ignore the thrill racing through my veins.

Because I was pretty sure he meant it.

“Save your love, pretty boy. All I want from you, is for you to listen to me next time I tell you someone needs to die. Oh…and for you to repeat this little show in the middle of the green like you promised when we made that bet about Paxton’s fight.”

He stood up and abruptly pulled me towards him, claiming my lips in a hard, possessive kiss that had my pussy throbbing. His tongue slipped into my mouth with long, aggressive licks, and I kissed him just as roughly back.
