"He doesn't either. He just likes the prestige that comes with getting the hot girl. When she first picked him, she was."

"And the oldest," I said.

He leaned over to bump my arm. "Remember when I told you that it wouldn't matter? You were so frustrated because you were the youngest in our class, and you desperately wanted to be her? Well, I told you so."

"Asshole," I teased. "You're right, but still."

Eladehl just sighed. "You know she's not going to stop, right? Trying to get Nari to 'cheat' on us was just the first step. It's only going to get worse."

And all of us looked at Wraythe. "What?" he asked.

"She'll try to get you to hook up with some girl, I bet," Anver said.

I scoffed at that. "Then good for him?"

"You're really not jealous?" Wraythe wanted to know.

"In case you missed it, you're going to put your dick into a metal band. You've got a few years to play around, and then it's all just memories, so no. I wouldn't take that from you! No different than you being ok with me kissing Anver and Eladehl."

"Mostly Eladehl," Anver teased.

I stuck my tongue out at him. "Only because you'd rather watch."

"You know it."

Sadly, we were right. Two days later, one of the shy girls ended up alone in the bath with Wraythe. He said she blushed more than any girl he'd ever seen, all the way down to her belly, but she'd managed to still flirt with him. When she said she'd never been kissed, he told her he was sorry, but the moment she reached for him, he stopped her, then left the bath.

We all knew that Ciella was trying to catch us in something. Unfortunately, getting us in trouble wouldn't be that hard. As students, we'd been entrusted with very specific limits. Penetration could get us thrown out of the temple. In truth, we'd probably just get assigned to the Path of Obligation, but that might be even worse! Plus, it would be very hard to prove it didn't happen if she said it did and he said it didn't.

The best idea was for us to never be alone, but that simply wasn't possible. Never mind that I wasn't going topooparound them. The facilities might all be shared, but it was an unspoken rule that girls used the toilets on one side and the boys used the ones on the other. Then there were the times when we all had different classes.

That was when Ciella made her move on Anver. She was so convinced of her appeal that she never once considered that a man might not be interested. Eladehl and I heard it on the way back from our style class. The scuffling was loud and quickly drew a crowd. And then I heard something that made my heart stop.

"I told youno!" Anver yelled. "That doesn't mean try harder. It means to get your fucking hand off my dick!"

Wraythe roared. Eladehl managed to slip through the crowd just in time to stop his best friend from pummeling the girl. I headed over to make sure Anver was ok, and Saval managed to appear in the middle of it all like magic.

"What is going on here?" she demanded.

Lying in the middle of the floor, Ciella pointed at Anver. "He shoved me down."

"After you tried to rape him," a girl in the crowd yelled.

Everything suddenly got very, very quiet. Saval looked over at Anver. "Is there truth to that?"

"She was trying to grab me," he admitted. "I told her to stop, and she didn't listen."

"I see." Saval's hand had clenched into a fist. "Braken? Will you escort her to her room and wait at the door so she can't leave? I'll have a priest relieve you shortly." Then she looked at Anver. "Can I talk to you in my office?"

He reached down to grab my hand. "Can Nari come?"

Saval just nodded. "If that's what you want, yes."

I looked over at Eladehl and mouthed, "I'll tell you what happens later."

He raised his hand to his heart and tapped it twice to show his appreciation. That said enough. He was also worried about Anver. Our friend wasn't delicate, but he was very misunderstood. For him, taking his role as a guardian would probably make his life a lot easier. As we made our way to Saval's office, I prayed to Zeal that Protection would be his Path. Anver would be good at it. He was the most considerate boy I'd met, but his lack of sexuality made him a little fragile in other ways. Once that wasn't a problem, I had a feeling he'd bloom.

But when we reached Saval's office, she did something new. The moment we were seated before her desk, she actually closed the door behind us. In all the times I'd been here, it had always stayed open, which meant this was very, veryserious.
