“As I said, I’m here to help.”

“Help?” Tulla cocked an eyebrow. “I doubt it. No one comes here who’s not looking for something they want.”

Tensen leaned back against the loveseat. “Perhaps there is some truth to that… if you’re caught, it might hurt Avery’s defense, depending on what information you give them. Ensuring you remain free is good for him.”

A sly smile formed on Tulla’s lips. The syrup was suddenly back. “You wearing a wire, lawyer man?”

“No.”

“Prove it,” Tulla said.

Tensen rose and began unbuttoning his shirt. He dragged the hem from his slacks, as well as lifted his undershirt, baring his chest. “Nothing.”

Tulla slid from his seat and sauntered closer. He lifted the shirt higher, inspecting. Slowly, he slid his palms across Tensen’s abs—causing a tremor. “You keep yourself in good shape, solicitor.”

“I’msoglad you approve.”

Tulla dragged his hands away. “Now, show me your phone.”

Tensen pulled his undershirt back in place and reached into his pocket for his phone. He showed the screen to Tulla, who searched it before giving a nod to his head.

“If you think you can get me to trust you into divulging secrets you have no right to know,” Tulla said, stepping back. “You’ve got another think coming. The Guard isn’t on my tail. I pay them good money to leave me alone. That bouncer out there? The one who was about to throw your ass out? He’s ex-Guard and my protector. If they were on to me, he’d have heard it. I suspect Avery spilled the beans to you, his attorney, and you thought you’d come down and see if you could find yourself a scapegoat.”

“Avery refused to tell me.”

Tulla’s eyes narrowed. “You turning me in might help get Avery’s sentence reduced. You really telling me that idea hadn’t crossed your mind?”

“Honestly, it had. Luckily for you, I fear it would do more hurt than good. If they can’t find youoryour records, if you have them… it would be harder for them to pin the drug charges on Avery. His uncle was smart enough to discard hisHeatexandScentexbefore the Guard came to search his cottage. They didn’t think to test his blood when he was arrested and when they did, they found nothing.”

“Scentexcan’t be found in a drug test,” Tulla said before the widening of his eyes implied he hadn’t meant to say it. He crossed his legs and smiled.“IfI sold drugs such as those, and I don’t, I wouldn’t sellHeatex. They can spot it in the blood.Scentexis a natural chemical and masked in the blood.”

Had Avery been getting hisHeatexfrom another source? Tensen would have to do some digging to find out. The fewer curveballs he ferreted out before the trial, the better. “He’d endured a heat just before they caught him. TheHeatexhad likely faded from his system, I assume.”

“Maybe,” Tulla murmured.

“If they can’tprovehe was on drugs, then that makes things better for him. If they caught you and convinced you to testify that he bought them from you, it would be incriminating and hurt his case. Perhaps you should disappear until this dies down?”

“Disappear? Just where do you imagine a little ole omega like me can go in this province? I’m trapped in the Omega Quad, just like all the others.”

“I have a feeling you have an escape route planned. And the money stored up to make it happen.”

The expression on Tulla’s face made him guess he’d hit the nail on the head.

“Escape routes are permanent. I’ve got a lot more work that needs to be done here.” Tulla shook his head. “I’m not goinganywhere.”Tulla grinned wickedly, the accent back again. “At least, not yet.”

“I’ve tried to warn you that you’re in danger. The Guardislooking for you. They likely want to make an example of Avery, and if they have you, they can ensure others won’t follow in his footsteps.”

Tulla chuckled, sliding from the makeup chair and strolling closer, the gentle sway of his hips alluring. “I’ve told you I’ve got things covered. Don’t you worry about little ole me.”

Tensen’s gut clenched. “If you won’t take me seriously, there’s nothing else I can do.”

“No. There’s not.” Tulla pushed Tensen back onto the settee and straddled him. “Though I still owe you one lap dance.”

Tensen opened his mouth to argue, but the whip of Tulla’s hips had the omega’s thick cock rubbing against his own hard one. Tulla grinned, clearly cognizant of his impact. He ground harder, his cock hardening, too.

“You’re a big, big boy, aren’t you, Tensen? Ilikethat.”

Tensen gripped Tulla’s hips and attempted to still the man, yet he couldn’t. Finally, he pushed Tulla to the side and leapt to his feet. “I didn’t come here for that.”
