Wilder leaned back, carefully withdrawing from Avery’s body. He reached onto the floor and snagged Avery’s pants before setting them to rights. “I suppose we should go on upstairs and get ready for round two.”

“You know, I could use that lunch now,” Avery mentioned.

“I’ll call in some takeout. I don’t want to share you with anyone else today.”

Avery grinned. “Same. I don’t want to leave the apartment until we’re forced to.”

Wilder fastened the latch on his pants before spinning to sit on the seat. He reached for the door and opened it. Avery hadn’t even realized they’d stopped moving. Once Wilder exited, he slipped out into the parking garage, realizing the driver had likely heard much of what had transpired. “I bet your driver has some wild stories about you and this backseat.”

Wilder threaded his fingers through Avery’s and led them toward the underground elevator. “Nope. I’ve never had sex in that backseat with anyone but you.”

Avery searched Wilder’s profile, sure that couldn’t be true. “You’ve brought no one home before?”

Wilder frowned. “I will not get into a discussion about my sex life before you.”

“Why not? I’m sure you had others.”

Wilder pressed the Up button and then turned to face him. “I do my best to remain a gentleman and not let the instincts of my alpha nature drive me to do things I shouldn’t.”

“Your point?”

“If I heard of another man touching you, I might go insane.”

“Oh?”

Wilder growled beside him. “I realize many expect omegas to remain untouched before mating. I'm also aware that you like to buck tradition and lived as a beta. My instinct has kept me up at night imagining things I wish I didn’t. Ican’task you if you had previous partners, so I think it’s best we keep those things to ourselves.”

Avery stared at his alpha. He shouldn’t enjoy the thrill of seeing the possessive side of Wilder, yet he did. It was likely that the inner omega need to be claimed by the big, bad alpha. He was breathless to see more. “I was only with one other.”

Wilder’s jaw tightened.

“We only went so far and… I stopped. I was afraid he’d figure out I was an omega.”

Wilder slanted a gaze his way, jealousy radiating outward. “No other man has had you? Fully?”

Avery shook his head. Wilder’s hand clenched tighter around his.

“I have no right to find satisfaction in that,” Wilder murmured. The elevator doors opened, and he urged Avery inside. As the doors closed, Wilder turned them to face one another. “No right.” He smiled wanly and brushed a lock of Avery’s hair behind one ear. “There will be times I have to fight my alpha instinct. Don’t bait me. I beg you.”

Avery hadn’t seen it as that. “I have omega instincts, too.”

Wilder held his stare.

“Seeing that growly, possessive side does things to me. I don’t want it to, but there it is. I didn’t mean to bait you… it was my instinct to poke the bear and get a reaction.”

Wilder scooped him closer. “You want me to be possessive?”

“No.” Avery held up his thumb and forefinger. “Perhaps just a tiny, tiny bit.”

Wilder held him close. “I think I can manage that.”

“Good.”

The elevator stopped at the top floor, opening. Wilder led him down the hall, pausing at the door. Once inside, they turned to look at each other, only a few feet separating them. It only took a few seconds before they slammed together, unable to stop from sharing their bodies again.

Afterwards, they lay breathless in the aftermath, Avery clinging to his alpha as they sought some semblance of control. He could hear the rapid beating of Wilder’s heart under his ear as the lazy ceiling fan circled above them, cooling the sweat on his body. Gradually it slowed, as his own did, and their breathing returned to normal.

Wilder rolled them over, pinning Avery to the mattress. He smiled, kissing a trail down Avery’s chest. Stopping at the small swell of Avery’s belly, he pressed a gentle kiss to it and the zigzag of scars.
