She glanced up, only once, before moving swiftly to an empty seat on the couch.

“Don’t worry about it.”

“Fallon! You never introduced us to this young woman! What’s her name?” a strident voice demanded. It belonged to a surprisingly elfin figure with blond, flowing hair and emerald green eyes. She was sitting on the lap of another girl, this one equally as stunning with dark locks and smoky, exotic eyes.

Fallon looked away, properly chastised.

“This is Adelaide,” he said briskly. He didn’t even bother to point at me. Bastard.

The blond girl’s face turned up into a glorious smile.

“Hello, Adelaide. I’m Samantha, and this is Lilly.” She nodded towards the girl beneath her, and Lilly gave me a two fingered wave.

“Those ladies over there are Michele, Tally, and Monica. You probably already know Lacey, Missy, and Elena.”

She spoke the names so rapidly that all I could do was blink like an idiot. Yeah, there was no way I would remember any of them.

“Come on!” Samantha jumped to her feet, and Lilly got up as well. “You can tell me all about your adventures with these hooligans while we get you changed. I’ll make you a hot cup of cocoa.”

She practically skipped towards the living room. Fallon grabbed her shoulder just as she was in front of him.

“Off limits,” he muttered, and she rolled her eyes. I wondered what that was about.

Sending a pleading look at the boys, which only served to make them more amused, I was dragged into the kitchen by an eager girl who seemed to have five-hundred pounds of muscles despite her one-hundred pounds frame.

“So, spill!” Sam said as soon as we were in the kitchen. “I’ll get the hot chocolate started as you change!”

Lilly leaned against the counter watching Sam with an amused, if not slightly annoyed, expression. Sam must’ve caught my nervous glances towards the door, for she softly said, “The guys are not going to be coming in if that’s what you’re worried about.”

Shrugging, I peeled my shirt over my head. The material stuck to my skin as I tossed it on the counter. Gross. My jeans had not fared any better, dirt smearing across the cuffs.

I quickly peeled off my underwear and bra too. I hadn’t wanted to get completely nude - I hadn’t wanted them to see all of my scars - but it didn’t seem worth keeping my disgusting undergarments on.

I had so many scars. They practically made a map on my body. How could anyone ever think that I was pretty like this? Each scar seemed to tell an entirely different story. I had used to be so ashamed of my body; I would constantly hide my arms away behind long sleeves. Why should I be ashamed? I was becoming stronger, healing, and that deserved some recognition .

The kitchen door swung open, and I squealed, attempting to cover my body with my hands.

Fallon stood, arms folded over his chest. He didn’t seem to notice my lack of dress as he glared at the girls.

“Are you almost done?” he asked. “What the hell are you guys doing?”

It was then that I noticed the hungry stares Lilly and Sam were giving my naked body. Fire flared in my cheeks when I finally understood the warning Fallon had given them.

Oh.

Oh.

“I’m sorry.” Sam sounded honestly horrified. “I hadn’t meant to stare. You just have a lot of scars.”

I didn’t bother to tell her that none of those scars were on my breasts, the place her eyes were currently locked on. I didn’t have a problem with my nudity. I was confident enough in my sexuality to flaunt what God had given me. I knew that I was only attracted to men, but it didn’t deter the ego boost I had at seeing the heat in the girls’ gazes.

Fallon finally turned towards me, no doubt to reprimand me, when his eyes flared with a sudden heat. He caressed my body through look alone, eyes lingering on my peaked nipples a second longer than necessary, before landing back on my face. I couldn’t ignore the desire in his eyes even if I wanted to. As if suddenly aware of what he was doing, his cheeks turned a bright red and he hurried from the kitchen.

Shifting uncomfortably, I quickly dressed in the pajamas Elena had picked out for me.

“If I would’ve known that you were attracted to girls, I wouldn’t have stripped naked in front of you,” I said. My body felt alight by the attention Fallon had given me. He had stared at me as if I was the only girl in the world. As if it pained him to tear his eyes away. I should’ve been more self-conscious that he had seen me naked, seen all of my curves and scars, but I trusted Fallon.

And he looked at me as if I was beautiful.
