And suddenly, we’re flying.

The night sky surrounds me, and the frigid cold assaults my skin. My very lungs feel frozen when I take in a breath of the chilly night air.

“Comet!” I whisper, but my voice already sounds weak, every part of my body battling to keep me warm. The shivers commence, and they get more violent until I feel like my bones might splinter, crack, and rupture a vital organ.

Something presses against my back, and I startle, then look down. It’s Donner. He’s flying through the air just below Cupid, keeping pace, his back a warm inviting seat…

Cupid opens his mouth and drops me. I fall with a screech, right onto Donner’s back.

I’m so frozen that my fingers can’t latch on to his hair and I almost slide off, but luckily, Comet and Blitzen have taken up positions on either side of him and use their massive bodies to push me in the right direction until I finally get a good grip.

I’ve barely let out a sigh of relief when arat-a-tat-tatsound reaches my ears.

Oh shit.

Those fuckers are shooting magic at us.
