I lean back and sigh, my head resting on the booth. “I’m not sure. It was kind of a cross between tour guide and gratuitous sex partner. At least that’s what I think he offered.”

Amanda squeals, “And what did you say?”

I glare at her. “What do you think I said. I told him he was conceited and arrogant and I said no.”

Her bottom lip pouts out. “Why?” she wails. “That’s exactly what you need. Fun time and sexy time. Was he at least good-looking?”

My cheeks burn when I think of him sitting there grinning at me like a cheetah eyeing a gazelle.

Harvey grins. “Oh yeah he was. Look at that smile! So why didn’t you say yes to the sexy boy toy?”

“Are you kidding me? I’m not looking to just get laid. And he insulted me. Said I had a vibe that was off-putting to men,” I grumble, glaring at the napkin as I twist it into strips.

“Really? How so?”

“He said that I was aggressive because I need to get laid. It’s off-putting to men who aren’t as confident as him,” I mutter sarcastically.

Harvey laughs so hard she starts snorting. “Well, you can’t say he’s wrong!”

Amanda sticks up for me. “That wasn’t nice to say to her though. Sure, it might be true that her kitty’s gotten a little dusty but she’s busy. It’s not like she’s not good enough to get offers.” She turns to look at me.

I roll my eyes. “Thanks for the vote of confidence. Yeah, I’ve had offers but I’m just not interested.”

Harvey points a chipped nail at me. “But you are interested in that guy.” It’s not a question and I blush again, glaring at her.

“Stop saying that. He’s an ass.”

“What was his name?”

“Rafe. He was behind the bar most of the night.”

“Ah.” Amanda nods her head. “He owns the place.”

My eyebrows lift to my hairline. “That child is a business owner. Hmmph. He must have an exceptional accountant.”

The place is so quiet everybody hears me. All eyes turn to me again and I flush. “Sorry,” I mutter.

Harvey laughs. “You’re going back to that bar and take that guy up on his offer!”

“What? The hell I am!” I screech.

Amanda grins. “He sounds perfect for you. Short term just to get your rocks off.”

“Whoa. I am not going to get my rocks off with that guy. I’d sooner stab him.”

“Violent,” Millie whispers. “I can’t believe the nurse is so violent she wants to make patients.”

Harvey grins. “That’s why you know he’s perfect for you. At least go back and give him another chance. Have a good time. Drink a little. If you end up knocking boots, great. If you just get a tour guide? Well, that’s up to you to waste a perfectly good guy who wants to make you scream.”

I roll my eyes. “If you mean scream that he’s a jerk, yeah, that’s possible. But not during sex. No. Just no.”

But the sudden vision of his raspy cheeks between my thighs and his lips buried in my aching core has me flushing and wiping sweat off my forehead.

Amanda laughs wickedly. “I think that that’s a yes. You’re picturing sex with him right now. And the look on your face says it’s good.”

“It’s a fantasy. Fantasies are always good.”

Sophie says. “I think you should say yes to him. Even if it’s just to hang out. Give him a chance and maybe he’ll surprise you.”
