“I don’t think that’s possible. He’s just a conceited, arrogant jerk.”
“With a body that’s got you revving your engine.”
“Everything’s cars with you.”
“Just say that you’ll go back to the bar and give him a chance.” Amanda and Harvey laugh. “We’ll even go with you and keep an eye on you to make sure he’s not a creepy serial killer.”
“Thank you so much. But I don’t want to go back there.”
“You go back there and at least give him a shot or I’ll set you up with another guy. I’ve got just the one.”
“You didn’t learn your lesson the first time.” I feel myself sinking but I have to fight it.
Harvey shakes her head. “What do you guys think? Should she go back to the bar and give him a chance?”
A chorus of yays has me dropping my head into my hands. “You guys aren’t dropping this, are you?”
Every one of them shakes their head. “Fine.” I stand up and stalk to the door, throwing my coat on. “But when it’s you guys’ turn to fix your life, I’m laughing my ass off at you.”
Amanda laughs. “That’s fair.”
I step out into the snowy night and sigh. My eyes don’t even see the beautiful night with the snow falling lightly.
All I can think is this is going to be an exercise in futility. “There’s no way I’m sleeping with that guy.”
But my body shivers and it’s not the cool night. It’s the thought of his lips, his eyes, his big body and everything it can do.
Ugh! Why couldn’t I have slept with the jerk who left? At least he doesn’t make my body tingle and my heart pound.
Rafe scares the hell out of me and although I’m not sure exactly why, I know enough to know he’s dangerous. I’m just not sure how dangerous. And why?
