He picks me up and carries me off the stage, still protesting. “You’re gonna hurt your back, stop!”
“You’re light as a feather. Now let’s go home and tell Maddy. I can’t wait to have both of my girls all to myself.”
“Do you want a boy?”
He shakes his head violently. “Doesn’t matter. As long as it’s you and me, I don’t care. Especially if they’re as pretty as you.”
I lean into his shoulder and my eyes close, my body sinking into his familiar warmth and love.
Sinking into him, loving him, and loving our new life just starting.
His lips touch mine softly. “God, I love you, baby girl. I can’t believe what a lucky son of a bitch I am but trust me I’ll never forget it!”
Second chance with the first man to hold my heart. That’s pretty damn lucky too.
