“Where the fuck is she going?”Thomas asked. At first, I thought she would go to their home, but I could tell she wasn’t near there as I focused. Jayla was on the move, and I tried to push into her thoughts, but something had me blocked. I should have had access because she was my Pack member and belonged to me, but something or someone was keeping me out. They just couldn’t keep me from tracking her movements. I leaped over the sound barrier wall and landed in my human form on the ground. I knew that would be all over the news, and Quinn might have some explaining to do, but if I didn’t stop this shit, things would turn apocalyptic for everyone.

“She doesn’t have a destination, but she has stopped. She probably believes she is far enough away to escape the Hell hole herself.”I growled. I moved through the trees as I came upon a dirt road with a single red Honda sitting there. The front doors were left open, and I saw Jayla kneeling on the ground with her hands held high as if to stab down at something beneath her. I felt a wave of sudden doom and fear. I knew it was coming from Thomas, and that feeling would have a lesser wolf cowering in fear, not an Alpha, but it did affect Jayla. Her entire body spasmed, making her lose hold of the knife in her hands. I reached out as I passed her and grabbed her by the back of the neck. Remi caught the blade and threw it to the side as she scooped up the child. I threw Jayla headfirst into the ground.

“No! She has to die! He has commanded it! You don’t know what or who you’re dealing with here! I have…”

“Shut the fuck up.” I knew my voice was deadly, and the ring of command had her breath seizing in her chest. It seemed that when I was close enough, the spell meant nothing because I could read every thought in her head. If I had focused on her earlier, I would have seen what she was doing.

“I don’t want to hear anything you have to say.” I took a step as Jayla began to scoot backward on her hands and feet as she watched me in fear. I felt Jarod in wolf form by my side.

“He will come for me! Aeron will…”

“You have violated every Pack law. Your judgment is death. Zeta.” With a normal eye, you wouldn’t have seen Jarod move. I saw each of his movements as if it were in 4k. His massive paw slammed into Jayla’s chest as he began to pull her body apart. I turned away and moved to Remi so I could check the child. Once I reached her, she held out the tiny baby girl, and I took her into my arms. I looked her over physically and then scanned her for any internal damage.

“What did you get from her thoughts?” Dimitri asked. His eyes never left Jarod until he howled.

“I think it’s time we have that meeting and also bring Quinn up to speed,” I said. I could not unsee the future this demon and others like him wanted. Even if we stop this one, it will not be the end.

~Alpha’sClaim~

We arrived back on the property, and the first person I saw was my Mate. She stood tall in all black, next to her sister, who seemed to pace. I blinked, and she was already off the steps and coming at me. I could feel the joy, relief and the Mating bond humming, but I also felt her fear. Something had happened in the time we had gone after Jayla.

“Dax!” She was wrapped around me, but I didn’t stop. I just picked her up and kept moving. Almost everything on my property needed rebuilding, and those who died in defense of it needed burials. “What the hell happened?” She asked. I made it to the steps of the house as she moved to slide down my front.

“We will all go over what happened, but I need to handle some shit.” Every Pack member was out and around the house. There was no time for the pit. Everyone who was involved in this would pay the consequences. I saw Journee come around the corner of the house, followed by Jamel and Ezra. Devana turned to face Journee as they approached us. I felt Thomas at my side, and I could feel the intense anger he had to release. I knew my brother, and it took a lot to get him to this point.

“Thomas, bring Peter and the wolves you caught to be judged with the rest.” He said nothing, just moved and disappeared. Devana turned to me as she ran a hand through her hair. “I know we need to deal with Pack business, but it is way more going on than we believed.”

“Yeah, we know all about the gate to Hell. We have that covered and…”

“I helped Journee in getting rid of that and setting down additional wards, but that isn’t what I am talking about,” she said.

“Devana! No one is answering the damn phone! We need to leave now if we are going to make it before dark. They are probably preparing for the ceremonies already. No one will have a cell phone on or even think to check text messages. Shit, shit, shit!” Dali swore while she redialed her parents, I assumed.

I noticed Max look up from helping some of the female shifters. I wanted everyone out here, so we knew once and for all who the traitors were. It did not matter if they were wounded or not. I saw Lennox, Tucker, Wayne and Dustin kneeling in the dirt with their heads down, and hands were bound together with silver chains.

“Shit! Shit! We have to go.” I turned back to my Mate as I felt the spike of fear and irritation.

“Talk to me. The fuck is going on? We need a plan to go at this rogue and figure out where the hell they will be next.”

“That’s just it, Dax. I know where they are going. It was about you and me, but my visions weren’t always correct.”

“What? They attacked here and would have killed everyone if…”

“No, no, I mean everything. Yes, I got what I was supposed to get right, but I didn’t understand what was happening. The demon manipulated my visions, so I would have never figured out unless…unless I was a wolf shifter. I had the same vision from the day before when I passed out, except it was slightly different. Aeron spoke words I wouldn’t have known as Hunter or understood even if I was taught it.”

“The language of wolves,Kannur.”

“Yes! He wants a war Dax between us. He wants you, Dax, and the souls of every wolf here. Your family prophecy says that you could stop this from happening, but if you were fighting your own War, why would you help a Hunter? A Hunter who came to help and died doing it while wolves attacked her home.”

“That would start a War between all wolves and fracture what Quinn and the others have been building.” It all began to click in place as the screaming ripped through the air. We both spun around and watched as Thomas pushed Peter in front of him while the Warlock looked like he had a heart attack. His face was a tomato red, and his eyes darted around wildly.

“None of you will live! They will finish what I started! This land you call yours will not know peace!” He raged. I saw the moment Thomas was just about done with everything. After seeing that female shifter about to execute a child, a newborn baby had fucked with him. Before I could move Devana out of the way, Remi was up in Thomas’s face as she side kicked Peter down the rest of the steps. I moved to Peter and pulled the small man to his feet, and dragged him over to the others.

“You’re nothing! You will never be the wolf the scrolls say you will. You’re weak!” Peter spat. Devana moved between us as if she were made of fluid and wrapped her fingers around the Warlock neck.

“As a Hunter, Peter Johnston, I am in my full authority of eradicating your entire bloodline, and I will start with you. You have committed the highest of crimes here, Peter. You placed the entire world in danger, granting me to sentence you to nothing but an endless death. Do you know how we accomplish that Warlock?” Her voice was as smooth as silk but as deadly as the blade she held to Peter’s jugular. I heard a vehicle approaching and the tires as they screeched to a stop.
