“Say that a little louder.” He was amused by her reaction. “Come on. Don’t look so shocked. It was either that or nothing and I wasn’t okay with nothing. Don’t make it sound like I told everyone at summer camp I had a girlfriend in Canada. I really was having sex.”

Lilly grinned. “You can’t prove it.”

He laughed. “If I say what is in my head right now, I’ll be breaking the terms of our agreement.”

The server set down his Manhattan and Lilly’s glass of rosé.

She picked it up and took a tiny sip. Her tongue slipped around the rim to capture a droplet.

Liam felt his cock harden at the movement.

“You can say it. I want to hear what it is.”

“You don’t want me to say it.”

“Say it.”

“Are you sure?” He wanted to say it. But he wasn’t sure she actually wanted to hear it.

“Yes. Tell me what little innuendo is in your head, because that’s clearly what you mean.”

“There’s nothing little about my innuendos.”

She laughed. “So tell me how you can prove that you were having just loads and loads of sex with Canadian women?”

“By showing you personally how much experience I have at pleasing a woman.”

She choked on her wine and started laughing all at the same time.

“See, I told you. Are you okay?” He watched her, amused, as she nodded frantically and put her palm over her chest.

“I’m okay. But that was bad, Liam. Honestly, that was so bad.”

“I never claimed to be good.”

“Just good in bed?”

The volley back was perfect. He had to give her credit. “Nice one. I approve. And yes, I’m very good in bed.”

“According to the latest Canadian polls.” She tried not to smirk, but couldn’t quite stop herself.

“I never should have told you the Canada thing.” He took a sip of his drink. “You have endless ammunition now.”

“Good thing we’re not actually dating then.”

Liam shifted in his chair. “Right. Good thing.” He leaned forward slightly, wanting to be closer to her. “So what do you do in your free time, Lilly? What do you do for fun?”

The amusement left her face. She gave him a shrug. “Uh… I don’t know. Not much, really.”

He had suspected as much. “Ever?”

“No. Honestly, I never do much. I work at the insurance company, I teach dance, I watch Finn for Sullivan. Rinse and repeat.”

“And that’s working for you? Are you happy?”

“Well, obviously I’m not happy. I’m on a fake date with my best friend’s dad.”

“Fair enough.” He questioned how any of that would change exactly if she started dating Sullivan, but that wasn’t any of his business.
