“I needed a good lay.” I lashed out.

I saw her chest recoil in shock and heard her heart beat flutter, but she recovered quickly. “I hope you got what you wanted.”

No. I didn’t. “It was fucking fantastic.” I narrowed my eyes at her.

“Ok… well, this seems fun.” Ruby entered the conversation. “We aim to please.” She looked at Josie. “Your next client is here.” She nodded at the man waiting in a booth on the other side of the room.

She gently pulled out of my arms and gave me a light pat. “Thanks Gage.” She kissed me on the cheek.

I couldn’t help but notice the look on Snow’s face and could tell it bothered her. I wanted to tell her this was all for show, but the other part- the more reasonable part- knew this was for the best. She didn’t need to care for me because I would only hurt her.

Ruby looked at Enzo. “Let me chat with a few people and I will get back to you.”

“Thank Rubes, you’re the best!”

“What are you doing?” I asked, my tone still a little clipped.

“I’m looking at getting a job here.” Snow snarked.

Rage.

I saw red, and it wasn’t the walls. “The fuck you are.”

She continued. “That’s not a problem, is it?”

I felt my eyes narrow to thin slits and took a beat after realizing she was trying to get a reaction out of me. “Not at all.”

“Good.” She looked at Enzo and reached around his waist after placing her other hand on his chest. “Are you ready to go?”

Enzo looked between us and nodded, unsure of what was going on.

Good.

He didn’t need to know.

I watched them walk out and, almost like she knew I was watching, she moved her hand over his butt.

I wanted to punch something, but I needed to hold it together.

“Brother!” Garrison shouted, walking into the room a few moments later.

“Please stop calling me that.”

“We are.”

“Garrison. It’s not the right time.”

“How can you still be so uptight? That was the best… everything I have had, maybe ever.”

“So happy for you.” I said deadpan.

I looked at Ruby. “Thank you, as always.”

“Take care of that girl. She’s something special… I have a feeling.”

I nodded. “I know…”

It was true. I haven’t been able to put my finger on it, but there was something about her. I felt it the first time I saw her and I still feel it.
