Calix walked over. “Do you need help, Snow?”

“Please.” She off loaded several of the bags she had on her arms to Calix.

“Thanks for swinging by the market to get these things.”

“Always happy to help.”

“You didn’t run into any trouble, did you?” Their conversation faded as they walked into the kitchen.

I looked between Enzo and Garrison and didn’t speak.

“Ok, well, I’m going to go change.” I said, desperately wanting to escape this awkwardness.

“Do you know where I can change or sleep?” Garrison asked.

“You can take my room.” Snow offered from the kitchen.

“No.” I glared at her.

“I haven’t been using it.” She sniped back.

My eyes narrowed. “No.”

Her eyes flared for a moment before she rolled them and turned back to Calix.

Enzo started to speak, but I held my hand up, silencing him. “I’m going.”

I heard Enzo offering his room to Garrison as a place he could use to change as I was walking to my room. I walked in and rested my back against the door, closing my eyes.

There was a soft knock, and I could smell her scent.

“I’m not going anywhere until you open this damn door,” she warned.

I heaved off the door and opened it.

She pushed her way in and shut the door.

Chapter twenty-five

Snow - Confrontation with Gage

IwatchedGagewalkup the stairs, and I desperately wanted to run up behind him and smack him across the face. Who did he think he was?

No?

No?

He can’t tell me who I can and cannot invite to stay in my room. I looked at Enzo, who seemed to be in a deep conversation with Garrison about something. I could keep staying in his room. He didn’t seem to mind, and neither did the others.

Why is it that I feel irritated when Gage is around, but can’t stop thinking about him when he isn’t?

“I’ll be right back.” I said to Calix, heading for the stairs.

“Don’t hurt him too badly.” He teased.

I winked at him over my shoulder, causing him to laugh.

I stood outside Gage’s door and took in a calming breath and then knocked.
