I walked closer to him, still not sure if I could trust myself or him. “Why did you leave me?”

“I didn’t take you as a girl to be so stupid.”

“Stupid?”

“You know what I am and still you come into my room wanting more.”

“What are you exactly?”

“You know.”

“I know this version of you. I know the man who, against what he wanted to do, shifted to protect me. You see yourself as this monster and…” I shook my head. “You aren’t.”

He closed the gap between us in two gigantic steps, his chest pressed to mine. “You don’t know me. You don’t know the things I have done. You need to stay away from me.”

I pressed forward, standing up on my tiptoes, my lips less than an inch from his breathing in his intoxicating smell. “You don’t scare me.”

He closed the space between our lips even more, so they were barely touching. “I should.” His warm breath swept across my face and I was so fucking hot for him right now, I could barely stand.

We stayed there breathing each other in, each fighting our own battles for giving in and taking what we wanted.

I would turn myself over to the dark Queen tomorrow, if he just reached out and pressed his lips against mine and took me on this bed. To feel him driving in to me over and over again. I could feel moisture running down my leg as my chest was heaving up and down.

“Take me.” I whispered.

He didn’t move.

I looked up into his eyes and saw a man torn.

“Take me Gage.” I closed the distance between our lips and pressed mine against his. I pulled away and looked up at him and then went back in for another kiss. This one was deeper. He wanted it.

His tongue pushed its way in and I took all of it, grabbing him around his neck as his hands found themselves on my hips, digging into my flesh.

A light moan escaped my lips as I reached for his pants.

His hands grabbed mine and he pushed away.

“No.”

“I’m getting really tired of that fucking word.” I said, panting.

He pushed away from me. “You need to leave.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“No.” He caught himself. “Leave. Now.”

“You are un-fucking-believable.”

He shrugged.

“I don’t know why you’re fighting this.”

“I’m not fighting anything.”

“Tell that to your dick.” I said, nodding at the bulge in his pants.

“It does that for anyone. Just ask Josie.”
