“About not wanting to get married. Have you seen the man fuck around in LA? Jack is obviously testing wifey material wherever he goes,” Dominic said.

Jack joined his friends’ laughs despite himself.

“I’m a hundred percent sure about the dentist's chair. There’s no way he didn’t go for it,” Reed said.

Jack bit back his smile.

Reed pointed at him from the other side of the raft. “Look at his face! He totally did.”

“What do you think, Z?” Dominic asked Zane.

Jack wondered if Zane would give the right answer, but if anyone would know, it would be Zane since he stood closest to him.

“The lie is statement number one: the dentist chair,” Zane said with a shrug, like the answer was so damn clear he wondered why the rest didn’t catch on.

“No way…” Reed said without conviction.

“He would never fuck anyone in that chair, Reed. No matter how fuckin’ hot the woman is.”

“It’s true. I shot Shelly down,” Jack added when the rest eyed Zane unbelievingly.

Reed almost jumped overboard from confusion. “Why? She’s my number one go to whenever I’m horny and—”

“She must feel so special…” Gabriel said with his nose scrunched.

Reed snorted. “Don’t sweat it. She told me straight up that she’s a nympho and doesn’t like to be tied to one guy—or girl…”

“It’s because she’s a dentist,” Zane said after he shot a glance at Jack, checking if it was okay to share.

“Huh? Didn’t you go to the same guy we all had growing up—what’s his name?” Rodrigo said.

“Mister Ukami,” Gabriel, Jack and Zane said in unison.

Rodrigo furrowed his brows. “He wasn’t that bad, was he?”

“After the accident, I needed to get some dental work done. Whenever I sit down in that fuckin’ chair, I’m reminded of that time…”

His friends all knew what accident Jack had referred to. Jack rarely talked about the car crash that instantly killed his parents and his younger sister, Nicole, nearly three weeks later in the hospital.

“Shit. Sorry, man,” Reed said.

“That’s okay. I’m glad at least one of us got to enjoy Shelly and her chair.”

“Not just one of us. I’ve been in that chair and it wasn’t anything to write home about…” Dominic mumbled.

Reed laughed. “Your foul mood probably put her off. Maybe next time she can give you some laughing gas…”

Dominic ignored Reed laughing at his own joke. “Let’s say she’s not my type.”

Jack wondered what Dominic’s type was since it had been ages he’d seen him with a girl. Gabriel beat him to the punch and asked Dominic, “What does your dream girl look like?”

Dominic surprised Jack with his instant answer that showed he’d thought about this before. “She has to be sportive. And I like a natural beauty—no fake spider lashes or those long nails that prevent her from wiping her own ass. And she has to be able to handle my moods. I was an ass even before I came home with PTSD, so I know I’m difficult to live with.”

“I thought the only thing coming out of your mouth was fucking rainbows and glitter,” Zane joked.

“Bite me,” Dominic grumbled.

Zane laughed. “See?”
