The whole works.

It wasinsane.

“I’m okay, but I will let you take the baby so I can say hi to everyone and thank them for all this.”

A huge banner hung across the front windows, streamers, and balloons were planted all around the front room and kitchen, which was an open area and great for entertaining. I spotted cake on the table and a ton of food. Every one of our friends and all the kids were in attendance, including an unfamiliar face I had never seen before.

I looked back to Kace as I handed him the baby and he must have caught the question in my eyes.

“That’s Rowan,” he told me.Always the mind-reader.“Hope you don’t mind he is here but you know how we have been wanting to bring in some more guys at work? Well, we know him from our military days and got in touch with him a while back. He just got out and was happy to have a place to land as well as work. He just happened to get in today and we didn’t want to leave him hanging alone.”

“Kace, it’s not a problem. I am glad you guys are going to have more help,” I told him with a smile.

And selfishly, I thought just maybe it would free up Kace’s time. Because Ireallyliked him around.

“Great, then let's mingle, Little Momma.”

Kace had my angel in one muscular arm, his other hand placed once again on my back which he had dropped earlier when I turned into him, and a sexy grin on his face sporting a little extra scruff since being at the hospital. All of that had me feeling a bit off-kilter, but we managed to make our way further into the room to see everyone.

I’d felt bad that I never got to answer Embry so I made my way to her first with Kace and Denver in tow. She was so excited when he crouched down for her to see the baby better and I assured her that she could be my number one babysitter one day.

“Someday me and Dexter are going to get married,” she said, causing a hush to fall over the whole room. “Then I can have a baby too.”

Well, that was all except for Dexter himself. A very adorable little boy belonging to Gyth and Summer, who was about to shake his head right off as he shook it no while making gagging sounds while running from the room.

“He’ll come around,” Embry said matter-of-factly, sounding like a grown-up.

While some choked on their laughter, I saw Braxton giving Gyth an evil eye before he said, “You better watch that boy of yours.” It was said playfully but Braxton still looked as if he may stroke out at any minute.

Gyth’s reply was, “Man, I think it’s your daughter you better watch. I think she tried to kiss Dex the other day.” The smirk on Gyth’s face as he said it, fueled the moment and Braxton went stark white.

A giggle escaped me and when it started I couldn’t stop until I had tears of laughter streaming down my face.

There was never a dull moment with this group.

As things died down and went back to normal chatter, I was introduced to the new guy, Rowan. For me, he didn’t hold a candle to Kace, but I had to admit he was a good-looking guy and wondered what was in the water in the military. Did they fill their canteens with something special that turned them all into hotties? When he wandered off, I made the mistake of commenting on my thoughts.

“Are all you military men that good-looking?” I mumbled to Kace.

Fast as lightning, his eyes narrowed and flashed with jealousy so quickly there was no way to hide it. My heart turned over at the notion he would feel that way about me.

“Not funny, woman,” he said, playfully.

The look of retribution that crossed his face, had me giggling once again.

But then, I swayed a little on my feet and Kace looked at me with concern and ushered me to the couch, setting the baby down in my arms.

“I’m going to go fix you a plate of food, you need to eat. Don’t move,” he ordered.

I used to get irritated at his orders, but now I melted at him wanting to take care of me.

Smiling, I crooked my finger for him to lean down so I could whisper in his ear and so only he could hear. When he got close I said, “They must have put something extra special in your water, because you're by far the best-looking man in the room.”

I think I just flirted for the first time in my life.

Kace stood back up, a smoldering look on his face, and then winked before he walked off to get me food.

My eyes followed him every step of the way until all the women swarmed me like a rush of bees wanting to hold baby Denver.
