“You both mean so much to me,” he said.

The vulnerable tone brought a swell of emotions like a crashing wave that just pulled me under and I couldn’t breathe. But as the panic crested and I took him and Denver in, I knew they were truly all I needed.

I just struggled to believe I could have it.

Don’t get me wrong, I would take all my friends, my job, and the life I’ve been building, but if all I had was Denver and Kace, I knew I’d be happy.

“You mean a lot to me too,” I told him softly.

A beaming megawatt smile blinded me, causing tingles all over my skin.

He held out Denver toward me and I took my baby from his arms. “Let me get showered—” Kace abruptly stopped and heat simmered in his eyes as he gulped.

“If you keep looking at me like that my shower might be a whole lot longer than it was going to be.”

My eyes almost popped out of their sockets in shock. Kace didn’t usually say stuff like that but I had clearly struck a breaking point. When he said shower an image came over me of him standing under the hot spray, water gliding down the hard valleys and ridges of his stomach, and Lord knew he could read me like a book.

Thankfully I hadn’t gotten any further in the visual that started to form or I may have truly died of embarrassment. What he had picked up on already had been quite enough to give my cheeks a bright-red glow.

“Honey, you need to turn that cute ass”—he looked down at the baby with anoopslook on his face—“butt around, because I want to show you just how bad I want you and we both know you’re not ready for that yet.”

Maybe I wasn’t but that didn’t stop the thoughts of Kace kissing me, touching me, or even more from seeping into my mind.

“I’ll be out in a few and we can make some breakfast. And don’t forget everyone is getting together at Summer and Gyth’s for an official welcome dinner for Rowan tonight.”

I’d almost forgotten about that but was looking forward to seeing everyone and getting out of the house again.

“Okay,” I said and turned to leave, unsure what else to say after everything that had just happened.

As I scurried down the hall, Kace yelled out to me.

“Over breakfast, we will talk about you saying yes to a date with me.”

I stopped abruptly and squeaked, “D-date?”

“Yeah, Little Momma, a date. It’s about time we officially went on one, don't you think?”

Slowly turning back to face Kace but not moving back toward him, I took in the twinkle in his gaze. He was so freaking handsome and it was amazing I could even keep my eyes off his chest which was beckoning me to touch the artistic work of art.

“You want to date me?”

“More than anything. Well…” He paused, letting thewellhang in the air. The sexy smirk sent another mountain of desire building inside me.

“Be prepared to say yes,” he shot back and then closed the door as a deep chuckle vibrated through the wood.

How could I ever say no?

Damn the man could cook.

The mouth-watering veggie omelet that he’d made me hit the spot.

Kace was a catch and whoever talked him into marriage one day was damn lucky. He was extremely good-looking, could cook, was a natural in the dad department, loyal, protective, honest, sexy, and had a big heart.

Why couldn’t I have found him before Thad came into my life? But then again Kace was with Bridgette and in the military still so that was not possible. It also wasn’t my fate.

I would, however, be forever thankful I’d found him when I had because without him I would be scared, friendless, and wouldn’t have ever had the opportunity to try and free myself of my ex. I would have tried, but I don’t know if it would have been possible.
