Among other parts.

We pulled apart, breathless, and I said, “You think so?”

“Yeah, sweetheart, I do.”

I snuggled in as close as I could get. Before drifting off to sleep I was happy at the thought that there would be no nightmares that night. And hopefully many more after as well.

Because Kace was back.

Could it possibly be forever?

ChapterThirty-One

KACE

She loved me.

Nothing I had heard in my life had ever sounded or felt better than hearing her say those words.

She may have thought she didn’t ever want another man in her life after what she’d been through. But I was going to prove to her I was the only man she ever needed.

I just had to convince her it was for eternity.

Teal shouldn’t have to give up on the dream she had ever since she was a child.

I was going to make her fairytale come true.

ChapterThirty-Two

TEAL

“They left to do what?”I screeched in horror.

My pulse picked up as Kace told me what was happening.

I thought I must be hearing things when he said that Lyric and Rowan accompanied Landon to Florida and that was why they were not at work.

Straight to the front door of my ex’s home.

Not only could it be dangerous, but it wasn’t something they had to do. However, after the shooting, I’d turned the pictures over to Landon and allowed him to consult with all the guys atNo Surrenderon them, as well as Lyric.

From what Kace had told me when they had a meeting in regards to the graphics every man in the room was vibrating with rage. And so a plan had been hatched to put a little fear into the man who liked to scare and hurt such an amazing woman they had said.

They wanted to let Thad know they were behind me and who they were messing with, along with if he contested the divorce papers, the abuse he inflicted would come to light. And while it probably should anyway, I was too scared to enrage him even more. Thad had always tried to hide the person he truly was. So maybe if he was worried people would see the pictures, he would go away more quietly.

A rush of tenderness washed through me that I had so many wonderful, caring people in my life, but I was still scared for them. I knew exactly what type of human being Thad was. To be honest, he wasn’t even human, he was an evil monster.

“Why would they do that, Kace? What if someone gets hurt? Plus it has only been two weeks since the shooting and what about Lyric’s leg and his regular job?” The man and I had a few talks since that day and he’d grown on me. I thought he and I may have a different kind of connection now and he held a special place in my heart for putting up with my bull.

I gnawed on my bottom lip and my hands immediately came up to play with my mom’s necklace, two things I did when I worried.

“Baby, it will be okay. They care about you. And Lyric is fine, he’s a tough dude and the shot to his leg wasn’t bad enough to cause any lasting damage. He is healing great. Plus, he still has some time off.” He grabbed both my hands in his and leaned over and rubbed noses with me. Something he started to do all the time now since we first made love.

“You wanted to go, didn’t you?” I asked. I could see it in his eyes, but I knew why he didn’t and what his answer would be and I was right when he responded.

“I would have never left you and Denver alone. Not even with anyone else right now. But if I’m going to be honest, then yes, I wanted to go.” His body bristled with anger. “You are mine to protect now and I love you, Teal. I wouldn’t be telling the truth if I didn’t say that I would love to get my hands on the asshole.”

He glanced down as the word asshole left his lips, looking for Denver. He was still trying to monitor his words in front of my son. But the baby was with Alley right then, until she and the other ladies came in for our class.
