I’d wanted to start the self-defense classes that they gave at my work and after talking about it, Alley, Summer, and Gemma all decided to join me. And since it was an all-women's group there were other ladies in the class, but the real highlight of the sessions was the extra addition that decided she wasn’t going to be left out. Embry. She was funny as crap, but the girl was focused too. She just may take us all down one day.

I looked down at our joined hands, tingles racing through me every time we touched, and in the last two weeks that had been a whole lot. Kace had taken on the job of showing me what sex while in love could feel like pretty damn seriously. But I wasn’t complaining. He always made me feel satisfied, cherished, and loved. And while he did that, I explored how to make him feel the same way.

A smile tipped up my mouth at the thought and it was hard not to keep the desire at bay when I was around him even if I was concerned.

Letting go of one hand, he tilted my chin up and smirked. “You should save those thoughts until later, Little Momma.” He leaned in to kiss me just as the door opened.

“Oh hell, get a room, you two!” Alley shouted as she shuffled in, her entourage right behind her. All the ladies laughed and then I heard Embry share her two cents.

“Kissing, always so much kissing. What is this world coming to?” When the back of her hand went to her forehead dramatically, I thought I might die of laughter. The girl was a natural-born actress.

Making their way over to my desk, Alley set my precious boy, who was in his car seat, down. I wanted nothing more than to snuggle him, but he was dead asleep.

“I’ve got him,” Kace said. “You guys go get ready for your class and I will see you in a bit.” He was watching the front for now and Denver. Since Landon was gone, Braxton went home and was watching Alley’s daughter, along with his and Gyth’s son, since Gyth was teaching the class. Braxton had his work cut out for him.

“Is Braxton going to manage the two crazy boys and baby girl alone?” Gemma asked Jurnee as we headed to the back to change clothes.

Junee let out a cute, but devious laugh. “It’s good for him. I’ll reward him later tonight.”

I stumbled, barely catching myself from face planting on the floor as I cracked up at how carefree these ladies were around each other. Slowly over time, I’d been coming into my own, finding myself, and bonding with these women on a level I never saw coming.

“Mommy,” Embry called out. “What’s daddy’s reward?”

The look on Jurnee’s face as we entered the room was priceless. But with quick thinking on her part, which you had to do around the little girl who zeroed in on everything, she said, “He gets a sticker for watching the kids.”

“Where are you gonna put that sticker?” Alley joked.

Summer had been quiet up until then, but she leaned in close to Alley and swatted her ass. “You are such a pot-stirrer.”

“Well I have to have some fun somehow while I wait for my man to get home,” Alley replied. She said it playfully, but I couldn’t help the sinking feeling in my stomach at the thought of Landon in Florida.

Once again, it was because of me.

“Hey,” Alley said to me. “I can tell where your head went and nobody is upset. It’s what he and the guys wanted to do. After what happened here weeks ago and knowing that asshole hurt you, we fully support the decision.”

I was about to lose it, tears and all, but thanks to Embry once again chiming in with her usual humor I was saved.

“Auntie, Alley, you said a bad word and have to pay the jar.” From what I could tell the young girl was loaded thanks to everyone's foul mouths.

“Okay, okay, remind me later.” Alley sassed. “Before we head into class I want to remind everyone we are having our sleepover tomorrow night.”

It had been something Alley had been talking about since the first time we had gone to lunch and although I was excited, I was also nervous and didn’t know what to expect. And not knowing where Thad was or if he was planning something else I worried when I was out around everyone. I didn’t want anyone else to get hurt. But Kace said he would be right out front in the car the whole time.

And at the thought of Kace, as much as I loved the girls and the self-defense class as it was empowering for sure, I couldn’t wait to go home.

With my two best guys.

“I’m going to call them.”

Half asleep in Kace’s arms as we lay on the couch, watching a movie, I was confused at who he was planning on calling.

“I want them to know you and Denver.”

Now he was piquing my interest. All the people in his life already knew us.

Turning over onto my back so I could look up at him, I asked him who he was talking about. When he told me he was going to call his parents, I was both stunned and relieved. I knew it had been weighing heavily on Kace’s mind and I felt like it was the last piece needed for him to move forward.
